So I am about to adopt my first cat (specifically this one, yay Mefi!). I'm looking for a vet for regular wellness checks in my area (Emeryville, CA, near Ashby Bart) - the catch is that I'm reliant on public transport, and I don't have a ton of money. Suggestions? [more inside]
Sister cats, adopted from the shelter very young (~couple months)...are now around 3 years and thriving. Problem is they will randomly get very...agitated? Upset? Freaked out may be the best way to describe this. Not sure what to do or how to go about explaining it to vet without having to force pills down their little throats (this causes more trauma and anxiety!) Tedious details inside. [more inside]
Could anyone recommend a fabulous vet for cats in the SF Bay Area? [more inside]
Do you have OLD cats? How often do you take them to the vet, and do you do the 6 month preventative testing-type visits that cat vets typically recommend? If so, how much do you pay for the visit and lab tests? Do I really need to do this? [more inside]
Back in July, my 11 year old cat was tentatively diagnosed with possible early renal failure. This past Saturday, however, she had another round of bloodwork and urinalysis...the results of which indicated her kidneys are probably fine! Needless to say, I'm very happy about this. But the more I think about it, the more it seems like the clinic folks jumped to conclusions way too quickly based on too little information. Am I off-base here, or is it perhaps really time to explore other local veterinary options? [more inside]

Please help me decide if I need to seek emergency medical care for my cat. [more inside]
I'm pretty sure my female cat has a urinary tract infection -- she's dragging her butt, licking herself all the time, going to the litter box a lot, etc. I'm going to take her to the vet, but I'm having trouble finding one that's open on Sundays. Is it okay for this to wait until Monday or should I go to an emergency animal hospital?
Cat has raft of weird symptoms, isn't improving, vet is nonplussed. [more inside]
My new neighborhood has a certified cat lady, and I am concerned for the 10+ cats I've seen roaming around with various signs of poor health and lack of vet care. [more inside]
Please recommend me a vet in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area. [more inside]
Does anyone have a recommendation for a Vet in the Catonsville or Ellicott City MD area? We have an older cat with some health issues, and don't feel we are getting the best care from our current vet. Does anyone have any recommendations in the area? Thank you!
Is my cat still sluggish from a sedative, or is it time to go back to the vet? [more inside]
Oh joy, it's another cat piss question! Sort of. Please share your experiences with cat perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery, or other advanced treatments for urinary blockages. [more inside]
Will the drug that my vet prescribed kill my cat? It's unapproved for use in the US. [more inside]
Does my cat have a chronic respiratory infection, or is it possible she just naturally has poor breathing passages? Ever since my partner and I adopted her and her sister in August she has had periodic coughing and hacking fits that have been relatively unaffected by three separate rounds of antibiotics. Now I wonder if maybe she just has the equivalent of a deviated septum, or whether it's time for hospitalization. [more inside]
I have two cats, both with a mild respiratory infection, and the drugs the vet gave us aren't making much sense to us. Can anyone help explain? [more inside]

Our three cats have fleas and worms. We've tried a couple of over-the-counter products, but they haven't helped (especially with the worms, which are our biggest concern). The vet wants to sell us expensive remedies, of which we are very skeptical. Before we shell out big bucks for the stuff the vet suggests, are there other things we should try? What has worked for you?
