My boyfriend and I have decided to take advantage of some sequester-related time off from work around Memorial Day to visit the last three states that he has never seen. We're planning to devote a full day to each state. We've talked with friends and consulted the interwebs to get ideas, but want to make sure we don't miss any hidden gems. So, if you could only do one thing in each of these states, what would it be?

A (legally) mentally disabled 21 year old girl in Vermont ran away with a guy from New Hampshire who she met on the internet. Her parents unfortunately did not establish guardianship, and the police say there is essentially nothing they can do. Can anyone recommend a lawyer in Vermont/New Hampshire who can help the parents establish temporary guardianship, and also, what else should the parents be doing?

My daugter, age 22, is in trouble a long, long way from home (Burlington, VT; her mom and I are in middle GA) with the family car. She had an accident, her fault. Nobody was hurt, thank heavens, but she was arrested (for the record, not DUI) and the car was towed off and impounded. It is pretty badly damaged and not driveable. There's no other car to use. The disabled one is running up a $50 per day impound fee which I need to stop as soon as I can. Probably I should just give it to a junkyard and let them haul it off, but I've got no notion how to arrange that. More important, what can I do from here to help my girl? Can I find her an attorney by remote control somehow? What else should I be thinking about? Ideas and advice? I would be very grateful!

I´m planning to move from Uruguay to the US around the end of the year. This will probably be the preface of many questions to come (as these two countries couldn´t be any more different). I still have to decide exactly where in the US to live, so please help me decide.

In the last year on our road into town in rural Vermont, we have seen the personal effects of 3 people who have recently died packed into dumpsters at the side of the road. In one case the family had a tag sale and sold all the valuable stuff (her crystal collection) and tossed the rest in the dumpster. For some reason this creeps me out big time and I don't want it to happen to me. Are there best practices for disposing of the personal effects of family members? How did your family dispose of the stuff of the deceased that you didn't want? Yes.... I know about a will and have one.

We're considering a ski trip to Mount Snow, Stratton, or Okemo December 16th-18th. It doesn't look like there's snow on the ground yet, but we need to put in for vacation days early. Will we likely be OK, or should we forget about such an early-season trip given this year's weather so far? Thanks!

As a result of Irene/Vermont flooding, the stream next to our house
diverted into a field and there is now a 10 foot high, 20 foot wide and 40 foot long pile of tree debris where the stream used to be. I am not a chain saw or dynamite guy. How do I/Should I get rid of it? I am worried about the effect of ice jams in the winter. I really don't have money for this. Is there aid for something like this?

I just moved to the Burlington, VT. I don't know a lot of people here and I certainly don't have the lay of the land yet.
Who is the best _________ in Burlington? Please fill in the blank with hairstylist/honest auto mechanic/housekeeper/shoe repair guy/guy who makes the best local maple syrup/lady who sells the best homemade cookies/gynecologist/eye doctor/barista/dentist/other person who makes your life better because they do what they do so well you would travel back to VT just to let them do their thing for you if you moved out of state.
All other recommendations on how to settle into VT life after extended time in NYC welcome as well.

After returning from a month away, we discovered green mold (or something resembling mold) growing on and around the cat's litter box in our basement. I have removed the litter box and anything else covered in the green stuff, and I started running a dehumidifier in the basement. What steps should I take to ensure that I eradicate the stuff and that my family (including a baby and the cat) remain safe?

I recently acquired 1.6 acres in Vermont and want to decorate my house with botanical illustrations of the trees on the property. I've found historic drawings by Michaux, Jaume Saint-Hilaire, and Bessa, but it seems as though I can only by prints from
one website, and they are around $140 each. There must be a less extravagant option. They need not be historic, but they should be legible and help identify what can be seen through a nearby window.

A few weeks ago, you guys helped to reassure me that I could drive from Atlanta to Vermont in December.
Now, I'm asking you to offer some suggestions for that drive.
The plan is to drive for three days, stopping after about 6 hours of driving each day, and arriving in Vermont on the third day.
I'm looking for suggested routes and cities-towns-villages to stop in that would have some combination of a) cool place to spend the night, b) a nifty place to get a bite to eat, and/or c) something cool to see/do.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Are we crazy to think of driving from Atlanta to Vermont in late December?
We have reservations at a great loft-barn-cabin and we have our favorite table at our favorite restaurant reserved for a New Year's Eve dinner, but the flights are so expensive right now.
How much stress will we add to our lives if we drive?
(It's not the length of the trip that worries us ... it's the potential for winter weather that Georgians don't know how to deal with.)
