Can someone with a caution for possession of cannabis go on holiday to the USA?

I was cautioned (not convicted) for possession of cannabis in 2003 in the UK. I understand that the USA is not very friendly towards people with drugs "offences" on their record and I'm wondering if I will have trouble travelling to Hawaii (via a four-day stopover in San Francisco) in the middle of next year.

American Roads are more dangerous that British Roads?

In my Internet peregrinations I came across this: 'In 2010 there were 32,788 road deaths in the USA (Source: DfT). This equates to 10.6 road deaths per 100,000 of population and compares to the UK average of 3.1 road deaths per 100,000 of population in 2010.'. I am trying to equate these statistics with relevant land areas vs population.

US Tax Law Change for Americans Living Abroad

As a US citizen, living and working abroad for many years, I recently heard of a new law that I must file tax returns on the US by Aug 31, 2011 or face a penalty. Anyone know about this? If US citizens live and pay taxes abroad, they generally are exempt up to $91,500.

Can we fly internationally out of Canada if we live in the US?

Anyone had any issues living in the US but flying internationally out of Canada? We (English green-card holder me + US citizen wife) live in far upstate NY and it seems that flying to London and back out of Ottawa using Air Transat is the cheapest and quickest way. Are there any pitfalls I'm unaware of? Any craziness with border control between the US and Canada if you tell the that's what you're doing? Thanks.

Buffalo University: Where to stay?

Looking for good, cheap accommodation in Buffalo, NY. My partner is visiting to work at Buffalo Uni for about 7 days in late September. They've offered to organise accommodation in a Holiday Inn at $98 a night. This feels a little steep. We'd like to shop around a bit, perhaps look at alternatives other than a hotel/motel. Ah, 1950s America. Land of Apple Pies, the Red-White-Blue and... Innocence?

I've often heard it mentioned that life in the USA in the 1950s was 'innocent'. There's a Mystery Afoot!

Can anyone identify these splats? My friend found them in her Ann Arbor MI (USA) townhouse after having been away last weekend. They were on windowsills as well as the bathroom floor. In addition, a few small items on top of a tall piece of furniture were knocked over. While she was gone, the interior motion-sensor of her alarm system went off twice, but the service tech found and replaced a bad wire, so this may or may not be related. We assume it's animal droppings of some sort, but have no idea beyond that. Can you help?

Shipping clothes from Canada to USA: what does the Certificate of Disinfection entail, where do I get it?

I have 2 large boxes of used clothing/shoes to ship to the US soon, and the post office employee told me the volume of items would definitely not pass the border unless I have a Certificate of Disinfection. Unfortunately, this document seems non-existent. There is NO information in Google, answers are always something along the lines of, "Ship it in several smaller boxes!" or "Don't say it's clothing!" which are avoiding the point: I am trying to do this by the book (legally). Does anyone have experience with this particularly evasive document, or parameters that would let Customs determine the packages are okay? Or another way I could *legally* ship the clothing to the US? [more inside]
