My friend, a Canadian citizen, is visiting me here in Chicago. First day here, she had her messenger bag with her passport (and all her cash, and her laptop) stolen. Where the hell do we go from here? How do you get a Canadian with no ID a Canadian passport? How does she board her flight in a few days?

Will I have a problem crossing the US/Canadian border if I'm in the middle of a name change and my passport has my old name while my SSN card and driver's license have my new name?

Emergency! I'm a Dual UK/USA citizen with valid USA and UK passports. My flight leaves London (where I am now) tomorrow at 2 p.m. I have my UK passport on me, in London, but my USA passport is currently in Manchester. It's 9:44 p.m. in London.
This page says it's against federal law for a US citizen (even a dual citizen) to enter the USA on anything other than a USA passport. So, what are my options? I've JUST applied for an ESTA visa, it's supposed to be instant...

Do to a family medical emergency, my wife and I are probably going to be renting a car and driving from Philadelphia to Toronto tomorrow night. We are both Canadians living in the US on temporary NAFTA visas. Fun complication: Our daughter is four months old and is an American citizen with an American birth certificate. We haven't yet gotten her a passport or applied for her Canadian citizenship.
Should we expect to have any difficulty crossing the border with her, in either direction? Is there anything we can get in the next 24 hours to make things go more smoothly?

I have jumped on an opportunity to take a vacation on the sunny beaches of Australia (insert mixup of seasons joke here). I am leaving in three weeks, and staying for six. However, I have run into a problem: my American passport expires two weeks before I return (though after I leave).

I post this on behalf of a friend in need of passport help. Here he is: I need a U.S. passport in less than a week's time. I have been summoned to a foreign country on short notice, and it's crucial that I'm there when needed. I need to leave no later than September 17th.
