I know I need a degree, but in what?

I'm 24, I've been kicked out of college twice, and I want a degree that will be a good springboard for going into the guitar effects/amplification field. Also, a >$40k salary starting out would be nice. Is electrical engineering the right fit for what I'm looking for? [more inside]

In my 3rd year of an engineering degree, hate it, failing and loaded with debt. What should I do?

I'm in my 3rd year of my mechanical engineering program and I hate it. I've dropped 30% in grades since my second year and now I'm tip-toeing failing/passing every class. I've gotten stomach ulcers and anxiety attacks as a result of the stress and I've started to just give up. I want to switch but I'm already sacked with 40k of loans. What should I do? [more inside]

A logo for the "other" МИФИ...?

Does anyone have a source for a nice big image of the logo for the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute? There's a vector version floating around, but I'd much prefer a large version of the original.

Finish my engineering degree? Or switch to I.T.?

I've decided I have more of an interest in computer software than mechanical machines, so I'm contemplating switching to a lesser Bachelor of I.T. from my Bachelor of Engineering degree, even though they would both take the same amount of time to finish. [more inside]

Best route to a nicer future

I'm about to finish second year of Software Engineering at my mid-tier Canadian university and have no intention of continuing any further. I'd like to transfer into one of the more prestigious colleges in the US, although getting in seems like a complete crapshoot given my current circumstances. What course of action can I take in the coming months that would greatly increase my chances of being accepted? [more inside]

How to find a small company, in another country, for a 1-year work term?

I'm currently a third-year Engineering Science student at the University of Toronto, majoring in computer engineering. As part of my program, I'm supposed to do a 12-16 month work term. While there are a variety of large tech companies that recruit directly from this program, I'm interested in working at a smaller, preferably U.S.-based technology firm. How should I go about finding a suitable place? [more inside]

Changing academic direction (am I being foolish?)

Trying to transfer to a four year college, and changing direction mid -stream. Am I being foolish to consider shifting from aiming for a landscape architecture degree to one in ecological engineering, especially when engineering colleges have completely different requirements than what I've been focusing on? How to spend $5000 of newly found money.

Just today our engineering students society found $5000 in a safe we didn't know we had. Now we've got to spend it, preferably in some useful and/or awesome way. Do you have any suggestions on what a students society might want to spend it on? [more inside]
