I have a text (MS Word 2007) that cites Vietnamese authors whose names are written in latin script with diacritics, stored in Zotero in lowercase (with the initial in uppercase). When using a citation style (for footnotes and bibliography) with small caps/uppercase for the names, Word keeps some characters in lowercase: "Dương Thiệu Tống" shows up as "DƯƠNG THIệU TốNG" instead of "DƯƠNG THIỆU TỐNG". In a Word document, I'm trying to get a simple right arrow symbol in Times New Roman. However, pasting it in from the Character Viewer inserts it as Arial Italic. Changing it back to Times in Word has no effect - it goes back to Arial immediately. How can I get around this? [more inside]

Fonts Filter: In MS Word 2002, I'm trying to type a "combining diaresis" (umlaut applied to the preceding character). Sometimes it actually works; sometimes i get a square box. I have no idea why it works when it does, or why it doesnt work when it doesnt. [more inside]
