I am in California and the startup I founded is bust. I want to know how to make the best case for my eligibility for unemployment benefits. Complicating factor: I took no salary from my startup, only stock. My last regular job prior to this startup fiasco was in Fall 2007.

I became unemployed in February of this year, and I am currently receiving the maximum weekly unemployment benefits from the state of West Virginia.
I think I can attend university full-time while drawing unemployment, but I need your help finding specific laws, policies, etc. about this. All I can find is very vague information.

I've been demoted. Returning to work Monday after two months medical leave of absence under FMLA. I just learned I've been demoted in responsibility though not in pay after two years on the job. I'll consult a lawyer right away. My question is about unemployment insurance. In Oregon, if I voluntarily leave the job, will I have a chance for unemployment under these circumstances? I'll visit the State employment office right away, too. But, if possible, I'd like some background before I do.

Is it possible to draw unemployments benefits in Georgia, while having a LLC and the business making money, but not paying myself?
I got laid off in Atlanta around July 2009, but I had a nice severance package and got paid bi-weekly till December 2009.
Around September 2009, I formed an LLC and made a couple thousand through the end of 2009. I am filing taxes for the LLC as needed.
So far this year, I've made a bit more, but I'm wondering about unemployment benefits. I have never withdrawn any money from the LLC bank accounts into personal accounts at all and don't plan on it for a while.
I can't figure out from the Georgia DOL website if I can get unemployment benefits under this situation. Anyone have better google-fu skills or know otherwise?

I work in software development in the state of Washington. Recently my manager has informed me that unless my work performance significantly improves in the next 8 weeks, I will be let go. Other than working my tail off to prove myself capable of meeting my team's performance expectations, and looking for other positions internally/externally in the meantime, how should I prepare myself for an impending release from employment?
Will I be eligible for unemployment benefits given this situation (and no misconduct on my part), and if so what can I expect to get?

I've been, for a while, what economists would call a discouraged worker; in most ways I gave up trying. Lately, I'm trying to marshal my spirit, resolve and grit together and get back out onto the job market. One of the biggest emotional problems I'm having is a fear of being let go again within a few months of this hypothetical new hire. It's really demotivating me and sapping the energy out of my efforts.

(Asking for a friend). My friend was laid off from his salaried job in California last year (employer ran out of money, usual story). He was on vacation at the time and had had to take unpaid leave to go on the (long ago arranged) vacation, as the employer did not offer any paid leave. He was told in his last week off that he didn't have a job to return to.

My friend has been in a job in NY State for close to 2 years. From the start her salary was substantially lower than she felt she should be paid and she was verbally promised a bonus which never materialized. Nevertheless she stuck with job. Now, the company is going down the tubes. Many people have been laid off. She's been hoping for many months to be laid off herself so she can get unemployment benefits to aide in a transition. But, for a variety of reasons -- mainly that she's a very efficient employee -- she hasn't been let go. This stressful climate of layoffs and, with it, an increase in workload for her, has made it a very inhospitable workplace. She wants to quit ASAP. But she also doesn't want to miss out on unemployment benefits. What are her options? More inside...

I'm an unemployed third-year law student, have my last interview in four hours. Any tricks on appearing intelligent, charismatic, and, most importantly, not desperate?
Have had four interviews with different employers so far, have not heard anything back. This is my last shot at employment before I go back to desperately combing job listings. Interview is with a judge in a district I've never lived in, who is of the opposite political persuasion as I am. This will be my first of this type of interview so give me your all-purpose i'm-the-right-person-for-this-job tricks.
