My boss and I agreed I am not right for my job. How can I be eligible for unemployment while not having a black mark of being fired for future employers? [more inside]

What should I do to prepare to be unemployed?

It seems increasingly likely that my company is about to go belly up, probably in the next 2-4 months. What should I be doing to prepare for this eventuality? [more inside]

Was I fired with cause or not?

I was "let go" from work the other day - I had already been on probation due to a bad review. The review was full of incorrect statements, which I had proof of but I didn't put up a fuss. I was given requirements to fulfill to show improvement. I met those times 3. They let me go anyway. I said that I had gone way farther even than I was asked to in the requirements, so why are you letting me go? The reason was "The decision has been made." I want to know, is this considered with cause, and can I get unemployment? BTW this is in Mass. [more inside]

He was on vacation at the time and had had to take unpaid leave to go on the (long ago arranged) vacation, as the employer did not offer any paid leave. He was told in his last week off that he didn't have a job to return to. [more inside]
