I want to thank co-workers in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine by sending them some high quality beer. Is there a store or service that would accept an order by credit card and deliver to their door?

I fell in love this week with Maria Primachenko
who is just so so good, like staring at the pictures on my screen in wonder and delight, and I badly want a full-size or at least reasonably large print to frame - I love them all, so any of her works would do. All I can find are some dubious quality replicas at Wahooart
, but I'll settle for postcards at this point. I can't find any of the books or albums about her on my usual book source searches either. Any ideas?

I am teaching a documentary class in Kiev at the end of the month. Students will work together to create several projects around a single issue. I am looking for topics of a social nature for them to explore. Last year they focused on the issue of cigarette smuggling. Any suggestions for further exploration would greatly be appreciated.

I just bought a postcard written in what looks like Armenian sent from what is now Lviv to what is now Chernivtsi (in what is now Ukraine), sometime between 1905 and (I'm guessing from the stamp) the end of the First World War/Austrian rule of Galicia. What does it say? [more inside]

At the end of World War II, would a Polish-ethnicity girl/young woman and her family from Lwów/Lviv have been given the option
of moving west of the Curzon line to post-war Poland, or would they have been forcibly resettled? [more inside]

I have a friend whose friends are Russian brides who got married via an internet site. I'm wondering how long these types of marriages tend to last and what they are like. Are there any blogs or research about experiences of these kinds of relationships?

: a friend into shortwave radio picked up this song
over the airwaves, recorded it to tape for posterity, and has been transfixed since -- but doesn't know what it is or who's singing. It's a long-shot, but can someone ID this?

Ukraine vs. The Ukraine. Is the latter outdated now that Ukraine is an independent nation? Do Ukranians feel strongly about the difference? I hear people refer to it both ways.
