Seeking replacement for Echofon for Firefox. This little Twitter client sat unobtrusively as a button in your browser and would pop up a handy, no-frills pane to check recent tweets. Unfortunately, it no longer works. I'd love something similarly lightweight that integrates with your browser (I use Firefox for Mac), though if a browser-integrated client is impossible to find, I'd welcome any suggestions for good, simple Mac-compatible Twitter clients. Thank you!

I have tried to figure out Twitter on my own for over a year. I still don't get it. I googled articles. I emailed people and asked questions. I paid attention when it came up in conversation in online forums. I finally screwed up my courage and set up an account, even though I didn't know how to use it. At some point, I asked someone I met in person about it. But I am still doing it Rong. So Rong in fact that I just stopped bothering to try.

I've implemented a streaming twitter widget into the site I manage. However, for some weird reason the script is creating a div or something that is overlaying the entire sidebar, making links above it unclickable.

I like reading some people's Twitter feeds, but I don't want to join Twitter. I used to be able to subscribe to individual Twitter feeds via RSS, but Twitter doesn't support direct RSS feeds
any more. They recommend "using a 3rd party service." What does this mean? And how can I, a somewhat technologically clueless individual, read individual Twitter feeds on my Google homepage?

I'm looking to start a prototype research project to look for trends in Twitter data. I've had a look through the API docs and with a lot of sharpening my python chops (?) I think it does what I want. But: does the API give me access to every query possible and I just have to learn how to use it, or is there some kind premium API so that e.g. analytics companies can pay for better access? I know about the API call limit, I'm wondering about things like the completeness of any search results, or fields/queries available. Any recommended resources also much appreciated.

Dumb question here, especially coming from a web developer ... But I use a Twitter widget on occasion on the front page of the site I work on. We'll be using it again Election night from about 4pm through to the wee morning hours.
The widget is the standard-variety Twitter-supplied widget (
http://twitter.com/widgets).
The problem is, this widget always seems to "die" at some point during its use. That is, it will display tweets just fine for an hour or two (maybe even three, if I'm lucky), then it stops displaying tweets altogether, showing just the styled box, completely devoid of tweets.
Search as I have, google-fu has failed me. Can't seem to come up with an explanation that seems reasonable to my supervisors. Any ideas?

Help, please. I cannot get any page at all at Twitter to load -- it just kicks me back to whatever page I was on previously. This started exactly when I installed the latests AOL Aim program on 9.15.
I have updated my firefox browser, erased cache and cookies, and made sure JavaScript was enabled, and updated Java, but still no dice. Any ideas? I cannot even get to the Twitter help page or log in. Thank you so much.

I'm hiring, and in addition to interviewing, checking references (official and un-), etc., I'd like to see how candidates are using Twitter, Facebook, and/or Tumblr. Facility with this stuff isn't a primary requirement of the job, but it's helpful; I also think it's a good way to gauge a candidate's judgement and to see how they manage their public face. On the other hand, it feels like following or friending is weird, or possibly an invasion of privacy. Is it?

I occasionally pick up Twitter followers that appear to be bogus accounts (e.g. today's follower has stats of 1 tweet, following 640 people, 0 followers).
What's up with these accounts? What's the motivation behind them? What are people trying to accomplish?
