Jackie Wilson singing "Danny Boy"

Does anyone recognize what TV show this video of Jackie Wilson singing "Danny Boy" is from? It looks like very early TV--1950s or so?

Tell me what to watch.

I've got the landlord coming on Monday to do something mysterious to my appliances and my apartment is a slight disaster area. LED TV breaking Wifi Network

I have a wifi network on an Airport Extreme 802.11n, extended by several Airport Express (2008 model, MB321LL/A) base stations. My new Samsung LED TV, in a room about 20 feet from the Airport Extreme, takes down my entire network—I can't reach the internet anywhere in the house—until I shut down the TV and reboot the Extreme. Suggestions for diagnosing and repairing the problem, please? [more inside]

Can you point me to a TV show episode that contains words like "adorbs"?

I'm looking for examples of real-world (that is, non-Internet) usage of new slang shortenings like "totes", "ridic", "adorbs" or "awks". TV shows where characters use such words would be great, especially if the episodes are available online. I've found Youtube videos where people talk about the phenomenon, but I'd prefer non-ironic, spontaneous examples.

"I've never met you but I love you."

What is the commercial from the 90's where a little boy says this? The best I can come up with is that it is a commercial for some type of charity, and the "plot" of the commercial is that this middle-aged guy donated and made life better for the boy. In my memory, the boy is playing with a puppy in a field, the boy says "I've never met you but I love you" in a letter to the man, and the man says "I can't tell you how that made me feel" -- kinda through tears. Any ideas what this was? Does anyone else remember it?

Whither the beard wrangler?

TV shows and movies frequently feature characters with five o'clock shadows or a day or so worth of beard growth. Given that production schedules often require long shooting days, how do they keep a five o'clock shadow from looking like 8 am the next morning? How are actor's beards kept at the couple of days growth look when a sixteen hour shooting day could easily have them well on their way to looking like one of the Boston Red Sox? [more inside]

Is my TV too old for my nifty new tablet and adapter?

I bought a Kanex Slimport Adapter (from the company) to connect my Nexus 7 (2013) to my TV. There is no signal - nothing on the TV at all. I have searched around online and it seems that it's possible my TV is just not compatible. But the info is thin on the ground and I am at a loss. I have an older TV -- a Sharp Aquos LC-26DA5U -- which I think I bought in 2006 or 2007. I am going to test it on another TV when I can -- I only own the one TV so it might be a while. Question: Could it be my TV? I don't want to send the adapter back unless it's really broken. Not that I want to buy a new TV, but I really want to watch Netflix with Hola Unblocker....the whole point of this tablet purchasing exercise.

Was it ever possible to record cable TV shows with a VCR?

I never had cable TV growing up, so I'm curious if cable TV subscribers back in the (70s? 80s? 90s?) were able to schedule VCR recordings just like OTA users? Was it as "simple" as plugging your VCR into a cable set top box and programming the channels into the VCR so you could schedule a recording for HBO shows (or whatever paid cable show you wanted)? Or were HBO shows blocked from recording on VCRs somehow? (I remember you couldn't record just anything on a VCR -- there were ways to prevent a VCR from copying movies to prevent copyright infringement.) [more inside]

Help me find the name of this movie or possibly tv show?

A friend of mine has a very hazy memory of a film or possibly tv show which she saw in the UK in the 80's. Here is the description - "It might be post apocalyptic and I seem to remember that everyone is vegetarian. There is a scene where a group of kids are camping away from the main village and they kill a rabbit (or find a dead one?) and dare one boy to eat some. He goes into a trance I think, or gets ill. There is something about monster people living in caves and they have very pale faces. There might be something about the moon in there too." Any ideas?

Cliffhangerless TV shows

How to find a very old Japanese animation series

In the mid to late 1960s, early morning Saturday television included -- I believe in the very early morning, before the regular Tom and Jerry etc -- a Japanese animated series that looked nothing like contemporary anime. It was all set in a regal Japanese past with women wearing kimonos, ornate animation of detailed old-fashioned Japanese houses, etc. The only possible detail we have is a faintly remembered character name that was something like "Shushan." Is there any possible way to find out what this show was? Any suggested googling hints?
