I'm looking for examples of archaeology of the present day, and/or of the ruins of the modern world, from the perspective of the future, as expressed in fiction or film. These could be major plot points, recurrent themes, or merely passing references. [more inside]
I just got a one-week Nielsen TV diary in the mail for November 5-12 -- including a crisp $1 bill to help grease the wheels. Yay! Unfortunately most of the shows I watch regularly, like Silicon Valley, Louie, Key & Peele, and Rick and Morty are on hiatus (or over) right now. I'm already planning to catch Last Week Tonight and Colbert's Late Show, but what other worthy television (that doesn't require a lot of prior familiarity) should I give my coveted (if minuscule) 18-34 ratings boost to? Looking for TV Show recommendations (sci-fi, adventure, mystery) to watch with my 9 year old daughter who is currently a big Dr. Who fan. [more inside]
I'm interested in good science fiction in any format (book, film, comics, etc.) that explores that idea that we are not alone in the universe, but wildly mismatched with everybody or nearly every else in terms of civilization stages, kinds of technology, perception, etc. [more inside]
My wife (and I) would like to catch up on the X-Files. However, she doesn't really like things that are too scary. However! One of her favorite shows of all time is Fringe, which had its own fair share of scary moments. Fringe never really scared her too much. So, with that in mind...what are the best X-Files episodes which won't give her nightmares?
I need recommendations for TV shows, audiodramas and audiobooks that I can really sink my teeth into. I'm asking for both in the same question because I need to be able to listen to the TV and still catch most everything; this is stuff I want to have on while I'm doing stuff with my hands. I'm a fan of fantasy, science fiction, drama and snark. More information and a list of favorite things after the jump. [more inside]
Please help me create an "Essentials of Doctor Who" playlist, to catch someone up on the show since the reboot. [more inside]
Having crossed over, unseen by most, from another dimension of the the inner mind to the outer limits of the night gallery, where do I go next?
I've seen The Twilight Zone. I've seen The Outer Limits. I've seen Tales From the Darkside. I've seen (and, puns notwithstanding, was bored by) Tales From the Crypt. I've seen Night Gallery. What else is there for me to see? [more inside]

What strange sci-fi movie or show am I sort-of remembering from ~20-22 years ago featuring a woman giving birth to an egg through her belly button? [more inside]
I know everybody asks this (and I've read through the previous questions looking for recommendations), but what should I watch next? Preferably on Netflix or Hulu Plus (not web only). In general, I tend to like: mysteries/crime procedurals/law dramas, especially with a quirky twist, and also shows involving a quirky band of misfits (or individual) working outside the law to bring justice to the little people while finding out who done them wrong (e.g. the A-Team, Burn Notice, The Pretender, etc.) I also like heist shows and sci-fi. And occasionally anime. [more inside]
Can you name the movie or TV show this image is from? Looks like a classic sci-fi film, though I can’t tell if the set is a spaceship or a submersible.
Making a brilliantly funny Deep Space Nine-themed birthday card: I've got the design skills, but lack the humour and knowledge of the later seasons. Looking for the perfect combination of text and image. Can you help me out...tonight? [more inside]
Would I like "Blake's 7"? Where should I start watching? [more inside]

I was trying to find a good animated TV show/miniseries to watch, and got to wondering why there are virtually no non-japanese non-kids/comedy animated series to be found? I'm sick of "anime" - does anyone have any ideas as to why Japan has cornered this market so completely, or better yet know of any non-japanese shows/series for me to check out? I'm into scifi and adventure stuff.
