I've been scouring the internet for a way to pick a certain date and time in modern history and see what was being broadcast at that moment, but so far no luck. Does anybody know of an archive of this information, or any clever ways to repurpose any other existing data?

Is broadcast TV supposed to come in over coax when you're not paying for it? (or is it not actually coming over coax in the first place?) [more inside]

How can I watch whole Olympic basketball games online? I'm in Australia. Every search I do seems to turn up things that look a little like malware. Live and legal would be my first preference, but I don't mind if I have to download an entire game as an avi and watch it afterwards. Thanks!

From my experience, the language along the front lines of a football game is...salty, to put it mildly. Trash talk, insults, plenty of swear words. Yet, during football games on TV, I rarely hear this. Despite all the parabolic mics aimed at the line that let me hear all the grunts and clashes after the snap. Despite the fact that they mix in the quarterback's snap count and audibles - sometimes I can make out individual words and numbers. So how do they keep the good stuff in and the bad stuff out so effectively?

The easiest way to do this is to tell you what I need: I want someone to be able to work on a laptop and be able to broadcast the video information on the screen wirelessly to more than 1 TV. My question is - how? [more inside]

Help me hook up the VCR to the TV along with our new digital converter box. I don't care that the VCR can't record or display digital channels - I just want to be able to watch videos and DVDs. [more inside]
