Should I self-host my blog or post to a site with a built-in community?

I've been a blogger, off and on, since "weblog" first became a word, but the way blogs and communities are built these days confounds me. I miss tight-knit, ye olde internet communities but am no longer sure how they are built or nourished in a noisier, more commercialized web. I need opinions. [more inside]

Decent autism blogs/tumblrs/etc?

Having recently accepted that my ASD will not go away, and looking to engage a little bit more with it, can you recommend any regular fixtures (regular articles, blogs, tumblrs, books possibly) that are written from an autistic perspective? [more inside]

Looking for a wordpress theme to replicate a tumblr theme.

Looking for a wordpress theme that replicates the "Chunky" tumblr theme. I like the old-fashioned newspaper-style layout but I need something responsive and a little more flexible and customizable. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Looking for blogs in all the wrong places

Due to some nostalgia from my high school days when it seemed like everyone had a LiveJournal, I'd love to start reading more of that type of personal blogging, but it seems a little hard to come by these days. I'm looking for suggestions for blogs (could be on any platform: Tumblr, LJ, et cet) that are regularly updated and used mainly for personal, introspective, "journal-y" writing. [more inside]

The world needs my New York walking blog. I need you to name it.

I'm starting a project wherein I walk each and every block of every street in Manhattan, at least once, over the course of roughly 2-3 months. I want to chronicle this process of walking all of Manhattan in a daily blog, preferably with a daily picture and some text. What do I call this blog? (And should I use tumblr? And anything else to keep in mind?) [more inside]

Looking for good, easy to set up 'Content Management Community' web-software

Web-Design-Filter: I am looking for a free (or very cheap) and easy to use Content Management System that I can use to set up a private, dynamic blog, content and community space for multiple users. I would be willing to look at Wordpress type software bases, but would like to integrate something of the functionality of lifestream systems like Facebook and Sweetcron/Tumblr. [more inside]
