Lawyers Play Football - Film at 11

What are some good t-shirt ideas for a football team full of law students? Every year, the staffs of the law reviews at my school play a grudge football match against each other - the Geek Bowl. It's totally for fun, not very serious at all, but a tradition nonetheless.

We'd love to do a witty t-shirt design or slogan for our team's uniforms, but are drawing a blank on ideas. Help us, creative MeFites!

Pertinent information:
- we're the defending Geek Bowl champions
- our journal deals with international law, so bonus points for incorporating international themes, a foreign language, or the word "global"
- lawyer jokes are fair game
- no profanity, please

The t-shirt is dead. Long live the t-shirt?

My band t-shirts are dying. How can I replace them? I have a couple of t-shirts that are precious to me. They've been staples in my wardrobe for years now, and they're falling apart. Oil splatters, holes in the armpits, wearing designs, fraying edges, etc. This is expected, and they're now my favorite relaxing-around-the-house tees to wear. But I like the designs so much I want them to be in my normal out-going selection still. And into the foreseeable future. They were both purchased at merch tables outside of the respective artists' live shows, and I haven't seen them since. Not at subsequent shows, not on artist or label websites, and not at band shirt-type stores in my area. Where can I get old band tshirts? Where can I get these band tshirts, specifically:

- Yo La Tengo - It's a blue Fruit of the Loom tee with the name of the band being beamed down from a UFO in white on the front.

- The Shins - It's an asphalt American Apparel tee with a green maze printed over the left breast. The name of the band can be deciphered in the center of the maze.

Bob's Hardware. 10k Run/Walk. Timbuktu Science Center.
I want an unlimited online source for these generic t-shirts that you see all the time. I just found out that there are sites that let you design these shirts for your organization or event such as this that give you all the generic clip art your heart could desire but they of course want a bulk order. Anyone know of a site that lets you design a shirt like this and just order 1 unit, or that lets you order a copy of a shirt that someone else has already got them to design?

We want shirts, but don't want to infringe on any trademarks or copyrights.

I run a website dedicated to vintage PC games (that is, games from the late 80s, early 90s). Ad revenue has been declining, and a co-admin suggested making t-shirts to sell to support the site. I have questions about what art/words we can use on the shirts. Obviously we can't use actual screenshots or art from the games or boxes. We'd also stay away from using the company's logos and the names of the games, assuming that those are also trademarked.

1. Can we use the game's character's names as a t-shirt slogan? (e.g. "Long live King Bob!") What about the names of the fictional lands within the games? (e.g. "I went to the Land of the Purple Isles and all I got was this lousy t-shirt!")

2. My website domain name contains the name of the company who created these vintage games. It's still okay to use my domain name on the shirts, isn't it?

3. Can we use fan-art on the t-shirts that depict the characters or scenes from the games? How different does the fan-art have to be from the actual art from the game?

4. Can we use any quotes from the games?

Yiannis Ziros in LA?

Looking for Yiannis Ziros. I have an obsession with super-soft, 100% cotton t-shirts in plain gray and/or white. They are harder to find than you might think. American Apparel makes good ones, as does D&G. I used to buy the D&G ones from a blocchista in Milan, but can't seem to find them here in LA without a ton of writing and logos on them.

So, two part question:

1. When I was in Athens in the summer of 2005, I bought two very soft, very comfortable undershirts under the Yiannis Ziros brand. I have been unsuccessful in finding that brand in the US, and their website appears to not have been updated since 2004. Does anyone know if they are still in business, and if their undershirts are available in the US?

2. Where in LA can I buy plain gray or white D&G t-shirts, or other t-shirts of comparable quality?

Anti-tall bias in the T-shirt design industry?

Where can I find awesome hip graphic t-shirts in Large/Tall Size? I love wearing cool designer T-shirts - long and short sleeve, but have been totally stymied in finding great designs in L/T. I am male, 6'3" with a long torso. I swim in XL.

Banana Republic has one shirt and others that regularly sell L/T don't have any graphic designs (Lands End and Eddie Bauer). Brands that I have seen with designs I like include:
DKNY
Banana Republic (none in large/tall)

Here are some designs on BlueFly in the vein of what I am looking for:
http://tr.im/2sdw
http://tr.im/2sdy
http://tr.im/2se0
http://tr.im/2se1

Some additional criteria in case someone has luck:
- Please no skulls - not me. But, gothic shields, lions, eagles, etc are okay.
- Please no overly prominent brand names as the design - I am not a billboard
- V-neck or crew neck, long or short sleeve - all are helpful

I have looked at the following previous MeFi questions:
http://tr.im/2sdg
http://tr.im/2sdi
and many others... none take on the hip/graphic part of this.

Thank you in advance for your help

athletic tshirts

Looking for Athletic-fit cotton t-shirts...more inside... Long hours in the gym have given me big lats, a wide back, and big shoulders. I live in Vancouver and cannot seem to find tshirts that fit me. I am looking for cotton tshirts...plain white, grey, black etc....Mediums seem to be too small and size L too boxy... Also the sleeves seem to be too big and short (I like sleeves that go to the lower bicep).
Any recommendations for specific brands, stores etc? Ihave done a search on this topic in ask me-fi and while there is one thread on it, I couldnt find anything that helped me. A bit leery of buying online unless I know the fit first.
Printing t-shirts on a budget?

I need an online store that will screen print t-shirts for a low price.
I need to print a bunch of shirts (about 14). Printing locally seems quite expensive and all the online stores I find want a minimum of 36 or more. Some seem to be cheap but they get you with the set up charge ($45 for each color!). Have any of you tried an online store that is cheap and reliable?

Where would I order small quantities of cheap but good-quality plain long-sleeve t-shirts for kids? Cheap ≤$4.50 (incl. shipping to Italy per unit); small quantity = 200; good-quality = 200-230g. (They're to be hand-stencilled.)
can i find big NASA tshirts (official)

Where can I find old Nasa T-Shirts from Kennedy Space Center Hi

I went to Kennedy Space Center in 2003, in the store the merchandise was rooted in the 80s; which I loved.

It reminded me of my childhood, not that I went when I was a child - but it was exactly how I remembered it from the likes of Space Camp, etc, etc.

Sorry for the ramble....when I was there, on my honeymoon, there were some big t-shirts - I bought one of them; grey worn and with a Nasa logo...it was 4xl or maybe 5xl.

I loved it and wish every other day that I had bought more, they are perfect for lounging around in and I am mad at my stupidity at the time.

Is there anyway that I can find some more of these and get them to the UK?

Here's hoping that the NASA t-shirt makers tune into ask.metafilter.com.

How do I market and sell cuteness?

I humbly and politely request your input on my forthcoming character-related logo wear apparel marketing. T-shirts, sweatshirts, keychains, hats, etc., featuring a character I created. I am going to be marketing a line of apparel and related items based on a "cutesy" character. The demographic will be teen girls, or women who are likely to have a visceral reaction to cuteness. "Awwww!!! That's SO cute!!!!!!" is the common immediate reaction when most women and all teen girls see this character. It's not a pre-existing character; it will exist solely to bring the joy of cuteness to the lives of millions. And to sell products.

So, even though I have some experience in marketing, I am looking for any further insight on undertaking such a venture, particularly personal experience and recommendations for silk-screeners and online sales systems. I am guessing any success this line might have would be related to "buzz" more than advertising, so if you have any personal stories about creating buzz around a product, that would be great.

Also, I am a realist and am not expecting to make some kind of huge overnight splash. Rather, I know that the best business plans follow the "slow and steady wins the race" mantra. Thanks all!

What Adobe package to use for simple designs?

I've used Adobe products in the past and have been fairly impressed. Now I want to buy an Adobe package to design and generate JPG and EPS files of my relatively simple t-shirt, bumper sticker, and button ideas for emailing to a printing shop. Will want to do some two-color designs, but no screens, complex color manipulations or any of that other fancy stuff. Graphics will be simple, solid, "silouhette-like."

I am a graphic design newbie.

Would PhotoShop Elements be sufficient?

T-shirts for the atypical American

I need assistance in finding a supply of t-shirts that will fit someone with an athletic build. So, I am in need of new clothing. I've tried Old Navy, American Apparel, and Hanes t-shirts, with the Hanes being the best so far, but still not perfect. The thing is, I am a very athletic individual so I have a triangle shaped torso with a broad upper back. These shirts seem to be built for either skinny hipsters or fat guys, so whenever I wear them they fit well to the bottom of my rib cage, but seem to flare out since they are built for guys with straight or upside-down shape torsos.

I am looking for plain colors (dark greens, blues, greys, browns, oranges, mainly) as well as ringer or gym t-shirts. I like the material of American Apparel gym tees a lot, so anything in that sort of material would be great.

Where's all the Apple logo merchandise?

Why can't I buy an Apple-branded shirt? Or keychain? Or coffee-mug, or jacket? Given its dedicated and growing fanbase, you'd think Apple Computer would be thrilled to have its legions walking through the malls and streets of the world wearing its logo.

But aside from the occasional gray-market resellers of trade show swag, there's not much in the way of Apple logo merchandise for the enthusiast to buy in between annual Stevenotes.

So, what gives? I know there's a store at the mothership, but why nothing at the Apple retail stores across the fruited plain?

(BTW, this post inspired by a listing of the Apple Store employee t-shirt slogans for the holiday season including this: "For a PC user it’s not a gift. It’s an intervention.")

There's a website with amazing tshirts that people send in, and then the best designs are printed and sold for a limited time... does anyone know what site I'm taking about?

Alternatives to Cafe Press and Zazzle?

I'm looking to make some t-shirts, on an on-demand basis. Are there any alternatives to Cafe Press and Zazzle, preferably one that's not weird about owning people's designs, and copyright issues? I'd like to have unlimited designs available, decent prices, and decent quality t-shirts. I'm not interested in getting anything in bulk. Thanks!

Where to find quality tie-dye shirts?

Naturally, all of the tie-dye shirts that I have bought at concerts or made myself over the past few years have faded to a white-pinkish mess after the first wash or two. Do you know of a good place, online or off, that sells quality tie-dye shirts? Preferably, I would like shirts sporting the usual designs - The Dead, Phish, The Allman Brothers, etc... Google turns up plenty of vendors; the hard part is figuring out who actually makes the quality goods.
