How do I preserve Werner Herzog's signature on my t-shirt? I met Werner Herzog the other night at the IFC Center's screening of his excellent new movie, MY SON, MY SON, WHAT HAVE YE DONE. I'd been meaning to buy one of these "Cinemetal" Herzog/Danzig t-shirts for a while, and figured this was the right time to finally do it.

Herzog signed my shirt with a Sharpie, thus rendering a cool shirt even cooler. I'd like to wear the shirt and preserve the signature on it. Can you suggest a product with which I could treat the shirt so that the signature persists, even after laundering the shirt?

I hypothesized that something called "fabric fixative" might exist, and, lo and behold, it does! I found some here, on the site of a company recommended by various MeFites. Will this product do the job? Or might there be some alternative, or some additional product I can use for insurance?

I also looked at the "Sharpie blog," and found that they recommend heat-treating to preserve Sharpie marks on fabric, so I'll do that. But I really want to render this autograph as indelible as I can, so all further tips are welcome.

Where can I find a short sleeve or long sleeve cotton shirt with a built-in shelf bra? There are many tanks and camisoles available with a shelf bra, but I am looking for a shirt with sleeves. I am looking for something that I can wear lounging around the house for those times when I want to be comfortable, but not let it all hang out, so to speak. I am not really interested in exercise-type shirts that contain a really supportive built-in bra. I would prefer something looser, and ideally made of a light cotton. I take ladies size large, and I am in Canada. Does such a shirt exist?

[LongShotFilter] Help me find this t-shirt! My husband had a Seattle t-shirt when he was younger that said, "Queen of the Faeries" with a picture of a fairy riding a dragonfly. (Pictured here.) It vanished around the time he & his high school girlfriend broke up, but he still talks about how much he liked that shirt & I'd like to replace it if possible. I've been looking all over for it, but my Google-fu is failing & I'm beginning to think it can't be done.

Wrinkle: we live in the Midwest & he's never been to Seattle, so he has no idea where the shirt came from. It was a Value Village/Goodwill find.

Where can I find some high-quality images of models (male and female) wearing blank colored t-shirts? Basically, so I can use them to mockup t-shirt designs on actual people wearing actual shirts. Different colors are key-- I'm looking for navy blue and red/maroon at the moment-- and relatively high quality, you know, larger than a 400x300 gallery thumbnail. Google image search doesn't help much.

Of course, I'd prefer anything freely available/accessible, so don't refer me to stock image sites-- I know about them, not willing to pay for them right now.

Creased and wrinkled shirt seams out of the dryer.

Some of my t-shirts always come out of the dryer with severe wrinkles / creases on the seams around the waist or sleeves. Shown here. What am I doing wrong? It's always the same shirts. The first shirt it happened with was a cheapo t-shirt so I thought it was the quality of the shirt and it just shrunk in a weird way. I just bout a few newer shirts (one Nautica and one American Apparel) and the same thing happened to them. Everything else comes out of the laundry fine. I thought it was because I was overloading the dryer but I don't think that's it.
I wash with cold water with no extra settings on and I dry on low heat with no extras on. If I iron the wrinkles out they just come back after the next wash.

Seeking info about/pictures of old Wired Magazine t-shirt with stick figure getting hit by lightning inside a yellow triangle The cover of the latest isse of Wired Magazine shows a warning symbol of a stick figure being hit by a lightning bolt. I remember that the very early issues of the magazine gave away or sold black t-shirts with this logo on them. Does anyone else remember this? Is it possible to buy these shirts? Are there any photos of them? (Yes, I've Googled around.)

I want this old Jimi Hendrix Tshirt back. Can you help with the design notes? Looking for a replacement Jimi Hendrix Tshirt I had back in the early '90s. From what I remember, it was a white tee, with a square on the front. It had either purple clouds or purple flowers, which formed his face.

Any ideas or clues?

I generally wear the geek jeans and tshirt uniform, and I'm (mostly) happy with that. The ones that I currently wear are begining to die, but I'm really bad at clothes shopping and am having trouble replacing them. Help me replace them before I start looking like a total slob. T-Shirts: Slightly fitted, interesting (but simple) designs and bright fabric colors are all pluses. I don't like oh-so-pithy sayings, shirts that are some webcomic or video game injoke, or designs that really want to be posters. I've found some good tshirts on threadless in the past, but looking around now I see a lot of shirts that don't use the tshirt medium very well.

Jeans: I used to get cheap crappy jeans and not think about, but I was given some nice jeans as a gift and realized they looked a hell of a lot better, fit better, and lasted a lot longer. I'm willing to spend real money on a good pair of jeans or two, but I'm not finding anything I like. I'm looking for good quality demin in a dark dark indigo wash (so dark they are almost black) so that I can let them fade myself, straight leg, and a fairly plain butt. That shouldn't be too hard right?

Oh and I almost forgot: I have a Dickey's Eisenhower jacket that I've been wearing for, eek, almost a decade. I'd like to replace it with something a little nicer but that I can still throw on over my jeans and a tshirt and it doesn't look out of place.

how to make an american t-shirt quilt

What's the best company for t-shirt quilts? I've got a ton of old t-shirts and zero sewing skills, so I'd like to mail them off and have somebody else do all the heavy lifting in turning them into a quilt. In doing some googling last night, I found a bunch of companies with a wide range of prices. I'm aiming for a full-size/30 t-shirt quilt, and I've seen prices for that size ranging from $295 all the way to $600+. Of course, I want the cheapest price while retaining excellent quality.

Have you used any quilt companies to make a t-shirt quilt? Any recommendations or warnings? What are your thoughts on posting a request on Etsy or Craigslist? Any other resources?

I'm looking for a specific University of Michigan shirt, or another sharp looking one if you've got any recommendations. I'd like a classic-looking Michigan T-shirt. In particular, I'd like it to be:

-Blue
-With yellow details
-Sized medium

Specifically, I'd like this in a medium (or one that says alumni instead of football), or this. I actually bought the latter once before, but it was a lousy fit and uncomfortable to boot. I'd love to find the same shirt but made by a brand name. I think Russell used to produce them but I can't find one anywhere.

If anyone has any similar recommendations they would be welcome, or if you simply have a favorite college apparel web site then please let me know.

Bob's Hardware. 10k Run/Walk. Timbuktu Science Center. I want an unlimited online source for these generic t-shirts that you see all the time. I just found out that there are sites that let you design these shirts for your organization or event such as this that give you all the generic clip art your heart could desire but they of course want a bulk order. Anyone know of a site that lets you design a shirt like this and just order 1 unit, or that lets you order a copy of a shirt that someone else has already got them to design?

I can get a toe, what about the shirt?

Where can a short but not super skinny guy get plain soft t-shirts in multiple colors? The smalls are always too small and the mediums too big! I've tried American and Alternative Apparel and their smalls are too tight around the chest & torso but the length is right. Their mediums are just the opposite, with the length being too long but the chest and torso just right. Once in awhile, I get an American Apparel printed tee in medium that shrinks to just the right length... but not always.

I've tried some Hanes and Fruit of the Loom, but I find the quality either too low or they don't come in more than a few colors.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Help me find this Iron Maiden shirt?

Does this Iron Maiden t-shirt still exist? If so, can you help me find it? Although it seems like the cover art for nearly every Iron Maiden album and single is printed on a black tee and sold online, I'm having trouble finding one for "Phantom of the Opera," off their first album. I'm surprised, as the cover art is pretty good for a single, the song remains popular among fans and the band, and the cover art is widely sold as a figurine.

I was able to find this vintage shirt with the cover art on a couple sites, but they weren't actually for sale.

I've searched ebay, Amazon, and Google, and haven't had any luck. Are there any rock or metal tee stores that might not have a great web presence but would have either the vintage version of this shirt or just a black tee with cover art and red lettering? Or am I better off just making a shirt myself?

How do I negotiate licensing rights for printing copyrighted images on apparel?

MY BUSINESS PLAN: Negotiate the rights to make apparel with images from a movie that is coming out in a couple of years. The movie distributor has the authority over these rights. EXAMPLE: So, say the movie was Spiderman, I would want to acquire the rights from Sony Pictures to make Spiderman t-shirts, jackets, caps, etc and then sell them to distributors, wholesalers and retailers. WHAT I NEED: Tips from insiders how to put my best foot forward in making this proposal to the movie distributor. What I have already done:

1. I have a deal with a friend of mine who is in printing and owns a t-shirt printing company.

2. I have contacted the movie distributor with my request and received a response requesting more information about my printing company. So the good news is: It seems that at this point the license is still available.

I am now at the point where I need to make a convincing case to the distributor so that they consider my company for rights (maybe exclusive?)

I would love to hear from someone who has been on the inside of either end of this type of deal or something similar so that I can get an idea of what they are looking for.

I was out to lunch the other day and saw this guy across the way wearing this great t-shirt. Being largely anti-social, I could not work up the nerve to inquire of him where he got it - thinking instead that I could just use my excellent Google-fu. Of course, that has turned up nothing. Maybe you can help. It was a kind of mud green color, and at the top it said "MY MANDIBLES" and then there was a picture of.. a pair of mandibles.. and then under that it said, "They click for you." Or maybe it said, "They clack for you." I couldn't really tell.

Apparently the Mandibles are a band of some popularity, but I don't think that's related.

Anybody see a shirt like this before?

Is anyone currently selling t-shirts for women that aren't below-hip-length? My old t-shirts are getting too ratty, but I'm having trouble finding replacements. I like soft, lightweight cotton or cotton-blend jersey fabric. I've looked at Target, Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, J. Crew, all of which I have had good luck with in the past, but this season I have only found varying lengths of too long. Gap has some that are almost the right length, but aren't the right fabric. I'm not looking for a 90s-style crop top, I just don't want a lot of fabric bunching around my hips the way current styles seem to do. Anyone know where I could find what I'm looking for? I'm in Pittsburgh, PA if there are regional recommendations.

Help me find the Bob Probert knockout shirt sold at the Joe Louis arena many years ago. Here's the details I have about it:

On the front, was a cartoon picture of Bob Probert in the Red Wings home jersey. On the back was a list of his knockout dates, in black text. Probably sold in the mid-to-late 80s, at the arena.

I know it's a little vague, but if anyone has a picture of this shirt (or better yet, knows of anywhere to buy it), you'd make a nostalgic Red Wings fan very happy!

Try out your web meta-search skills: can anyone help my good friend find out where to get this Bob Dylan T-Shirt? So far my searching has led me to determine that Warner Music did a promo for Jenny Lewis' new album, "Acid Tongue" featuring a bunch of youtube videos where people show up with those balloons at her doorstep. So the girl in the shirt is Jenny Lewis, but that's all I got. No luck on the identity of the shirt. If anyone can help me find out where this shirt was made, and (perhaps more interestingly) share how they came to find the answer, I would be greatly appreciative!

How do I get the smell out of the armpits of my t-shirts? I've got a few t-shirts that right out of the washer/dryer immediately smell in the armpit area. There doesn't seem to be the thick buildup from deodorant, and they don't look stained...they just smell.

How can I get that smell out? I'm just using regular laundry detergent to wash my clothes.
