I can't configure my Airport Extreme. I've been having trouble with my Airport Extreme holding a DSL connection - so attempted to change configuration but couldn't access it (says there was an error in reading configuration). I've reset the Airport (holding the reset button for five seconds) and can see the airport with the Apple assigned name. I use the password "public" but still get the same error message. Can't get at the configuration page with either the airport setup or Airport utility software. [more inside]

Hi all, for some unknown reason (I haven't changed anything) Firefox 1.0.2 (windows xp) suddenly stopped responding to my ctrl/shift-clicks (the keys are working fine outside of FF). This has made me *very* sad...I have tried pretty much everything and look to this great pool of knowledge to furthur my troubleshooting...maybe someone else has run into this? Is there an extension that could force the issue?

Any idea how to get my drag and drop back?

Ok, so for the past ~4 days, I haven't been able to get any of my hotmail mail. I can see the mail in my inbox, but when I click on the sender's name (which is how you retrieve mail), nothing happens. I tried using different computers, including a nice new mac, and the problem remains. Have any other Mefites had any such problems, or know anything about this, etc.? [more inside]

Everytime I try to download and install a new theme or extension, it downloads, FireFox asks me if I want to install it, it appears to install it but the extension or theme never shows up in the relevant window. Did I change some setting to break the extensions? (MI) [more inside]

So I turned on this monitor (CRT) I have and the image started jumping around and contracting and expanding and dimming and brightening for a bit all crazily. It goes away after the monitor has warmed up and only returns when I turn it on after it's been off for a while. Is it dying or is it just a quirky mannerism and is there anything I can do to fix it?

Today, when I tried using the machine after a full charge, it died within half an hour. I'm currently using XP with SP2 and google'd all the user groups. Any suggestions other than buying a new battery?

Really this is my last resort. I recently built myself a new computer (Asus K8N-E Deluxe) and everything's fine except I'm trying to transfer my old harddrive to my new harddrive. I had a slave in the old computer (Asus CUSL2 for those keeping score). It's 40GB and has ALL my important data. I think you can see where this is going. If it's plugged in and running, even set as slave, the computer won't boot. Obviously, more inside.

I really love using Firefox instead of IE as my browser, but I'm having problems with Firefox at work. About half the time I try to use it at work, it won't load anything. It tells me that the page timed out. Whenever this happens, I have to browse with IE instead until Firefox starts working again, several minutes later. I have no problems with Firefox at home. I've heard this is a firewall-related issue, but I don't really understand. Is there a way to fix this?

Fluorescent light problem:
I have a fluorescent light fixture in my bathroom using two, different-sized, doughnut-shaped bulbs. Lately it's been taking a long time to turn on (15-30 minutes) after I throw the switch in the morning. If the fixture has been running for a while, this warm-up time seems to go down. Does this sound like a ballast problem (and thus my landlord's problem), or a light-bulb problem (mine)? I'm leaning to ballast because the lights look fine once they start, but I haven't been able to find the same symptoms on the half dozen fluorescent lighting websites I've looked at so far.

I have 100GB and 160GB hard drives in my XP computer. I tried using Norton Ghost to move the 100GB info to my latter drive, and it worked but with serious partition errors (windows not booting). I then moved a large amount of data to my 160, the 100 not really having changed. Everything in windows functions, but when I use Partition Magic 8 I get the following error: "Disk 1 appears to have partitions created using a different drive geometry (255h 63s original, 240h 63 current) You should back up...." etcetera.
