I have a desktop computer that I built myself a couple of years ago. 8 GB RAM, 3.5 Ghz AMD processor, Windows 8. (Can probably provide most of the other specs if that would be useful.) Suddenly I'm having all kinds of performance problems with it. [more inside]
My computer's rear panel USB ports periodically stop working -- even after replacing the motherboard. I'm at the limits of my diagnostic abilities here. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? [more inside]
Do I really have to replace the motherboard? My computer is showing no display and I think I've ruled out everything except the motherboard. Changing that is obviously expensive and time-consuming, so please tell me if I'm missing anything! [more inside]
My home-built computer seems to not want to undergo any extended load (gaming) without freezing up to extents varying by game. Where do I start? [more inside]
Why am I picking up a hum when recording? [more inside]
My CD/DVD drive on my HP laptop isn't working. It won't open when I push the open button, doesn't respond when I try to open it through a program, but can be forced open. However, when I insert a disc of any kind, it doesn't read it. Is there a way to solve this problem, or will I have to go through the annoying process of taking it to Best Buy and having them send it out for two weeks? Oh, and also I am running Vista, if that means anything.
An LG 22' widescreen monitor, a few months old and seemingly not overheating or failing thanks to the computer, shuts itself off and won't come back on without a power cycle. I'd like to avoid returning it to base if possible. [more inside]
So I'm installing a new Seagate 500GB SATA HDD in my PC, when I notice, for the first time somehow, a jumper that limits the drive to 1.5 GB/s. What's that all about? [more inside]
I am having a very unusual problem with my hard drive and CANNOT recover any data from it after trying numerous methods. Please help me with your technical expertise. [more inside]
I have a hand-me-down Intel server running Windows XP Pro... most of the time. Once or twice a day it locks up completely and without warning. Connected peripherals go dark but the screen stays frozen. I'm not a hardware guy; is there some free/cheap software to monitor the hardware & OS and tell me what's causing this?
How can I fix my CD-R? [more inside]
Help me identify a hardware problem with my laptop. [more inside]
My DVD-ReWritable drive and my regular ol' CD-Rom drive are all of a sudden not working anymore. They worked fine last night, but now the computer doesn't even see them to list them. [more inside]
I have a MITSUMI CR-4804TE CDRW drive. While it's slow, it worked perfectly fine for me while I was running Win98SE. Now that I've got XP, it's all gone to pot [more]. [more inside]
