Crossing America..

Me and three friends are flying out to drive across America, mainly following the old Route 66. I have two main questions: 1) What's worth seeing on this route? 2) What should we be wary of? Also, any other advice is more than appreciated.

Most scenic route from LA to Detroit?

This weekend I will be driving a roadster from Las Angeles to Detroit with a buddy. Help me find winding, hilly or mountainy roads with great views of nature to see on my way. Twisty mountain roads are always preferred over long straightaways. (Bonus if they aren't too much out of my way, thought I don't mind changing my route somewhat.) So far I am thinking of passing through Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and Rocky Mountain National Park. (Google map)

Help with travel!!!! (berlin - prague - Munich)

Hey I'm travelling to Europe this summer and want to go from Berlin to Prague. I found a previous post on it but it's from 2005 and the info is a little outdated so i was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion for going about getting to prague? I'm travelling with my Girlfriend and we'll be going from Prague to Munich after our stay there. Does anyone know if we can use our Eurail passes in Germany (from say berlin to dresden then switch trains to prague) or book a roundtrip ticket that will take us into Prague and then on to Munich? All help would be appreciated! Thanks

Pack em in fellas

I hope to take my family to upstate NY for thanksgiving via the 48 Lake Shore Limited Amtrak Train. There will be four of us going. My wife, myself, and our two children (both over 2, under 5). With money being a bit tight, I would like to purchase 2 normal seats, and upgrade the other two seats to a Viewliner Roomette (suggested occupancy of 2, but with my kids being small, and having traveled in one before I know we could all fit). Will there be any issues just leaving the two seats unused, and all of us piling into the room? Will they ask two of us to go back to our seats? I can't afford two of the viewliners, both ways of the trip, and cannot afford to upgrade to the full room. But I know I can budget an extra 400 to get the viewliner for both ways for one set of us. Horror short story about a couple on a road trip, end up in a small town during springtime, fight with each other, have sex, then notice the townspeople are all climbing on top of one another, crushing and killing each other to make some sort of ?. Story ends when the couple joins in (WTF?) I read it when I was like 8. I thought it was a Stephen King short story, but wiki'd all of them (I think) and couldn't find it. ...and (bonus question about La Cabina... sorry for cheatin')... [more inside]
