Memorializing fans in-medium

In-medium tributes: Can you think of instances where fans/players have died and been memorialized in some way in a show or game (if you can think of other forms where this has happened go right ahead)? Examples would be Leyla Harrison (X-Files) or Dak "Caylee" Krause (World of Warcraft).

Does anyone know why Brad Renfro was left out of the Oscars tribute montage?

Does anyone know why Brad Renfro was left out of the Oscars tribute montage? I've read the statements and officially the Academy says that they can't include everyone due to time constraints, but Renfro died shortly before Heath Ledger and he was mentioned.

Does anyone know the politics behind who gets included? I doubt it's because of drug politics because I think Chris Farley was included when he died of an illegal-drug overdose. Renfro was never in an Oscar-nominated film, but neither was Farley. (I don't think.)

I'm curious why someone might be overlooked for the montage.

Can you help us pick a song to retrofit as we bid our friend farewell?

I need a simple pop song that can be retrofitted for a farewell party. Have a decent acoustic guitar player, and a team of writers standing by to rework the lyrics to pay homage to our departing friend. What songs could semi-skilled singers use to good effect, and not mangle? Qualities we're looking for:

1. Instantly recognizeable. Part of the joke is in knowing the original tune, from the music.

2. Not terribly complicated guitar part. He's good, but he's acoustic, so heavy metal noodling is right out.

3. Not chockablock with high notes. We're guys, and we're not really good singers. But we're game.

One example we've messed with a bit is the Pearl Jam version of "Last Kiss," for example. Can you please suggest others for us to consider?

Help me find this cat tribute. I'm looking for a website I found a few years back, thought I'd bookmarked it, but apparently not.

I can't remember what the content of the website was, but ...

On the website was the developer's own very moving (imo) tribute to his cat, who'd died. It was a flash animation of pictures of the cat, with Art Garfunkel's 'Bright Eyes' as the soundtrack. (It's not as mawkish as it sounds, I promise ... ah, but then again I'm soppy about cats, so maybe it is.)

Anyway, if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about, I'd appreciate a link to the website in question.

Rock & Roll - I need to make a mix ~~tape~~ CD of Rock & Roll tunes that pay tribute to and/or glorify Rock & Roll... something I believe no other genre does with quite the same fervor and dedication. Do you have any suggestions? Songs about rockin'... how cool rocking is, etc. Some obvious examples (maybe) would be:

Led Zeppelin - Rock & Roll
Kiss - Rock and Roll All Nite
AC-DC - For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)
Night Ranger - (You Can Still) Rock in America

I would prefer if the song title included the word 'Rock' (at least).

I expect jonmc to make an appearance.

GriefandConsolationFilter: I (perhaps too quickly) volunteered to help assemble a memorial scrapbook for a woman who works for the same company as me, and who was murdered by her boyfriend a few days ago. I never met her and I hear she was very nice, so I'm fishing for any good poems, quotes, and or ideas. She was young (24) and died too soon but since we never met, I'm at a loss. All suggestion appreciated muchly.
