I am not sure I recall the details correctly, but I am amused by a news story in my memory. I think my memory is accurate, so here goes. A police officer is testifying in court about his (commercial and sexual) relationship with a prostitute, with whom he had sex in the course of an anti-prostitution sting. The officer is questioned by opposing counsel about whether he climaxed. He explains that he did, but that he didn't take any pleasure in it. Can you give me a link to this news story or tell me where I read it?

How many times can a defendant dismiss his defense attorney, probably in an attempt to delay prosecution? A little over a year ago, my next door neighbor did a Very Bad Thing. Please believe me when I say there is no doubt that he did the thing he is accused of. When he is finally convicted, he will probably go to prison for the rest of his life. [more inside]

Martin/Zimmerman filter: Why did the prosecution call John Good to testify today, knowing Good would say Martin was on top of Zimmerman making 'downward motions' with his arm? IANAL, but if you are, or not -- help me understand the calculation.

Why is the Sandusky trial moving so quickly? In my area the high profile cases seem to take months, if not years, to come to trial, and then the trials themselves take weeks or months. Sandusky's trial started last week and I believe the judge told the jury that they will likely have the case on Thursday. Explain? [more inside]

At what junctures, if any, do the jury deliberations in the classic film 12 Angry Men
take a form that would probably result in a mistrial rather than acquittal if they were to become known to the court? I have linked to the full film on YouTube for convenience's sake. [more inside]

A multicenter drug study takes CT scans of all subjects at various points. These scans are all sent to a central committee for evaluation. What is this committee called? My Google-Fu is failing me, and I don't get any convincing hits for "Central CT Scan Evaluation Committee" etc. etc.

Do all misdemeanor cases get to bypass the grand jury? Is there such a thing as a federal misdemeanor? I know FEDERAL capital offenses must go before a grand jury and each STATE handles this differently, ie NY both sides and a judge, no grand jury. But I am confused on this process...help, test tommorrow!!

How do I find out the results of a trial?
Every so often you hear about a murder or crime or something and somebody gets arrested. But it seems like you rarely hear how it ends. For instance, this one
has bugged me for a long time. As much as I search, I just want to know what happened to the guys they arrested.
Where do people look for how things end?
