Tell me about this Japanese photography blog

Does anybody know anything about this Japanese photographer’s website? I’m very charmed by his photos of his adorable family and lovely taste in design and décor. I can’t read Japanese or find any information on who he is, what he does, etc. I’m just looking to know a little more about him and his site, even a few translations of some of his captions would be cool.

And I don’t know if it’s frowned upon to have a two-part question, but his blog is a very good example of a specific Japanese style I’ve been seeing around the web. Very natural, somewhat old-fashioned, use of lots of linen, simply woven cotton, crochet work, etc. This shop (linked from his blog) is full of items like this. Here’s a similar shop. Is there a name for this trend (in Japan) and where can I find more examples, or non-Japanese/English resources (other than Muji)?

Personality-Based Design/Arts/Fashion Blogging - new trend?

Is there a specific term/genre that defines bloggers such as Gala Darling, Nubby Twiglet, Queen Gilda, Doe Deere, This is Star, and Agent Lover? Has anyone tracked this? I've noticed a few of those sort of blogs recently, sharing similar things in terms of aesthetics and content:

* Young female, using a glamorous pen name
* A mix between personal life, recommendations of products/people, and how-tos based on everyday life (such as How To Be Fabulous)
* Plenty on design, fashion, style, culture, trends
* Blogger likely to be an artist or other creative person
* Promotes the blogger itself as a brand
* "Things I Love Tuesday" (possibly started by one of those bloggers)
* Similar layouts

A few of these blogs cross-link to each other, but other than that I don't see anything that suggests they're part of a collective or tight group of friends. Rather, it seems to be a growing sub-trend of blogging, and I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this and/or done some research on these blogs.

They're like camgirls in the sense that there's quite a bit of voyeurism into their personal lives, but it's not constant. They're seen as icons and inspiration, and have enough followers to even sell products with their branding (AFAIK Gala Darling lives on Adsense income). When I was a teen, random-content-heavy personal sites, often with vector illustrations, were the Big Thing; this seems like an outgrowth of that.

Is there a name for this? Does anyone else fit this aesthetic?

How to find this 80s toy

My friend is looking for something she remembers from the '80s. It was a big plastic "jewel" on a bracelet or maybe a necklace -- it would open up and there would be a toy pet inside. (?) She wants to find one, maybe on eBay. But we can't remember what these were called!

??? > Myspace?

What is going to be the Myspace of 2007? About a year or so ago, I loved being on Myspace. I found a lot of old friends and made a lot of new ones. Obviously, I don't have to tell you that Myspace is now saturated with just about everyone on the planet (ok, not EVERYONE, but you get my point). I mean, when I first joined, I was in network #12 million. Now, I'm in #140 million. Back when I first got on myspace, almost everyone that emailed or IMed me could actually spell. Now, an hour doesn't go by that I don't get a "hai bb how u doin dam u luk gud grl u wanna fuk?" That, plus the profiles that will crash my browser, the fake profiles, the tooooons of bands.... oy.

My question: Myspace is getting old and it makes it near impossible to enjoy it like you could back a year or so ago. So what is going to take it's place? What is the new Myspace of 2007? I'd really like to know so I can go join and enjoy it before it gets saturated like Myspace has.

Where's Checkmark?

Have you seen this trend/pattern/graph? The trend I'm looking for looks like a "checkmark". The x-axis is time. The y-axis can be related to rating/score/likeability/satisfaction (even toss me some goofy ideas). Basically, I need to find trends in life that start high, dip, and then steadily increase, so the y-axis can be:

Approval ratings for politicians
Stock prices for startups
Popularity of certain fashion products
IMDB movies ratings
Customer satisfaction for car rental services

[except I made all those up]

Bonus points if it's general (trend applies to most stocks/politicians/movieratings/products)

Double bonus points if the trend/pattern/graph has been published somewhere.
