AUD to...what, exactly?

I´ll be doing some traveling soon, and since I´m in Australia, it seems expedient that I change my currency as soon as possible. What´s the best bet, Euros or USD? I´ll be leaving in about two months, and visting both Europe and the US.

How to go to Yokohama from Tokyo?

I am currently in Singapore and would like to go to Yokohama during mid-November. I speak pretty good English and minimal Japanese, but since this would be my first trip to Japan, I'm pretty clueless about directions.

I'd probably fly from Singapore to Narita airport. I have read that I could take either Narita Express train or limousine bus from the airport. Can anybody suggest the safest (most foreigner-friendly way) that I could take? It's okay if it's slightly more expensive than other alternatives, as long as I'd arrive there.

How do you get a permit to visit the Altai Republic in Russia?

Me and my gf want to visit the Altai Republic in Russia. However a friend of ours wanted to visit the place, but weren't allowed to enter because he didn't have a permit. So where does one get a permit to enter the Altai Republic and why is it necessary to get one? I mean, a tourist-visa should be able to give you access to most of the country as long as the cities you want to visit is stated on the visa.

Beijing or Shanghai

This is something of a follow up to this question earlier this year. I've spent most of the last year working in China but haven't moved yet. Question is, Shanghai or Beijing? It's basically my option. I've spent a lot of time in both cities and both have qualities I can appreciate. What are your opinions, which city is more livable, and why.

How to jettison jetlag?

I'm travelling on a short trip to New York, from the UK. The last two times I've travelled to the US (Las Vegas, New Orleans) the first few days of my break have been ruined by jetlag - waking up at 4am and being zombified by early evening - but, this was ok because they were 10 and 14 day holidays. However, my trip to NYC is for 3 days. How can I try and combat this on such a short trip, without losing the couple of days I have in New York?

I'm currently traveling in Germany (I live in the US) and would like to know how I can force my browser (firefox) to *not* display localized versions of websites like google or myspace. My main issue is with google. I have to keep going to google.com and selecting "Google.com in English" to be able to type things into the search bar in firefox without getting German websites. Is there some sort of about:config option, greasemonkey script or something I can use to make sure sites don't redirect to their localized version?
