Schiesse! I just want sites in English, please!

I'm currently traveling in Germany (I live in the US) and would like to know how I can force my browser (firefox) to *not* display localized versions of websites like google or myspace. My main issue is with google. I have to keep going to google.com and selecting "Google.com in English" to be able to type things into the search bar in firefox without getting German websites. Is there some sort of about:config option, greasemonkey script or something I can use to make sure sites don't redirect to their localized version?

What should I do in Vienna?

I'm going to be in Vienna from September 26 (early morning) - 29 (afternoon). I'm 18 years old and will be traveling with friends. What should we do/ see? I've been put in charge of figuring all this out, but apart from the obvious tourist things I don't know what's good. I guess I'm looking for more off-the-beaten-path stuff. Thank you! [more inside]

Warm vacation destionations on a budget?

My wife and I are looking to go someplace warm this winter for 7-10 days and would like to see a lot of cool stuff and relax without breaking the bank. We were thinking Costa Rica, and have been looking at Caravan for tour packages ($1k, all inclusive). We would be flying out of Chicago. Does anyone have other recommendations for us to look into?

Nice but inexpensive/moderately priced lodging around Boston?

We're going to be visiting Boston for a few days, starting tomorrow (Sunday). We'd like to avoid traffic and parking issues by staying in the outskirts and taking mass-transit into downtown to see the sights. We're looking for a hotel or motel that is pleasant, clean and fairly inexpensive (less than $125/night IF possible). Any recommendations?

Where to store a suitcase in Manhattan?

I'm flying into LaGuardia at 10:30 on Friday morning. I'm staying with a friend in Brooklyn but won't be able to get into his apartment until the evening. I would like to spend the day in Manhattan, but will have a large rolling suitcase (like the biggest standard size one you can buy) that I don't particularly want to tote around all afternoon. Where can I leave it? [more inside]

Birtday idea for mother turning 60?

Help us wow our mother for her 60th birthday in November. She loves natural beauty, travel, her granddaughter, watching music and dance, massages, and antique/carpet/porcelin/etc. shopping on the cheap. I'm in NY, my siblings are in TX, and she's in Los Angeles. We want to make this special, and might consider travel, but we only have three days. Suggestions?

Switching off Traffic Lights

I'd like to ask a relatively simple question – what would happen if we switched of traffic lights when we didn't really need them? I'd like to know from an environmental aspect what effect turning off the nations traffic lights would have towards saving electricity and reducing emissions. From a social point of view could the nation's road users manage with such a change? And from a technical innovation view point – could it and should it happen and if so how?

Tel Aviv Weekend Trip?

I live in Jerusalem and am going to Tel Aviv for the weekend. I really don't know the area, and am looking for: 1) A good day spa in Tel Aviv Yafo. My solid foam mattress is slowly killing my back, and I am in dire need of a good, strong massage. 2) Discotheque recommendation 3) Other recommendation? Anything? Cool place to visit, shop, good restaurant, anything. I live so close there's a good chance I'll come back too, so it doesn't have to all fit into a weekend. Thanks

Traveling to Cape Cod, Bay of Fundy & PEI

We're going to make a road trip in a couple of weeks from upstate NY to Cape Cod, and then up to the Bay of Fundy and Prince Edward Island. Any advice would be welcomed, but we could particularly use some advice about the BOF. We need to know what are the best attractions and towns to visit, the best places to see the tides and other scenic views, and if you have any recommendations for restaurants and places to stay. We are planning on staying in moderately priced lodgings ($90-$140/night); and we tend to like simple but good food, served in friendly, interesting and moderately priced restaurants.
