I woke up with a stuffy, sneezey nose this morning. I fly across the country in four days to a conference I can't afford to miss. Is there anything I can do now to minimize the likelihood of making everyone else sick on my plane and at my conference?

Should I buy some Turkish currency now, ahead of my two-week September trip to Istanbul, to hedge against the (hopefully remote) possibility that U.S. politicians will not raise the debt ceiling by August? Or euros? Are there other steps I should take now to protect myself, just in case?

I'm flying in a few weeks, and I'm majorly worried by some of the stories I've been hearing about
physical TSA screenings. There are certain ways I am not willing to consent to be touched by strangers, no matter what.
Do I have any recourse if I am singled out for a physical search of my person, other than not to fly at all? How can I prepare in advance for potential conflicts?

How do you take a vacation? I want to take a few days off, get away from home, relax and not feel any particular pressure to do anything. It seems like every vacation I've ever been on has been work. If I'm not touring or driving, I'm skiing or hiking. I don't want to take time off and just be home, but I don't know how to travel and relax. Any general tips or specific vacation recommendations?

I'm thinking of going to Seattle for a weekend conference in late April, but if I do I'll be on an extreme budget. I've found the hostels through the web. Any other tips on how to make it as cheap as possible?
