Looking at taking vacation in Southeastern Pennsylvania third week of June: Lancaster County (Amish), Gettysburg, Hershey, that area. We think we'll stay at a Four Points Sheraton in York using accumulated points, which puts us close enough to all of those things so we can hit any combination of stuff over the space of a week. Two adults, one 11-yr-old girl. Please share your first-hand impressions, suggestions, things to do or avoid. Thanks.

Have 10 days vacation and would like to take a cheap vacation within 1 day drive of South Bend, IN. (Say 10 hrs on road, one-way.) 2 people and we don't have much money ($1500 but maybe pushing it). Don't have to spend all 10 days away but at least 7. Have any cabin suggestions with nice towns or sights nearby? Hoping to eat out once at a decent non-chain restaurant for my birthday. Feel free to post vacation-planning sites if you have any.

I'm not the first to ask this type of question, but my situation is a bit unique. I have 10 days, starting at Iguazu Falls and flying out of Buenos Aires. My original plan was to travel down to Uruguay for a few days and then take the ferry over to Bs. As (for at least 4 days). I've recently learned about Salta, and it sounds really cool. Is it worth taking the long bus ride there and back down to Bs. As. or should I just let it go and head to Uruguay?

I am a single guy in my 20s and I haven't taken any kind of trip or vacation for myself in years. Now I have some extra money and things are starting to slow down (seasonally) at work. The place would have to be close enough to New York that I can return within about 4 or 5 days and not spend a huge amount of time travelling. I would have to be able to get around without a car as I don't drive. I would take the trip in November or December and it will be cold unless it is Florida or something, so it should be a place where there is something interesting culturally. For medical reasons I can't ski. I do like going to art museums, so DC/Boston/Philadelphia are easy and obvious, but this seems a tad boring and maybe there are other good options. I could spend up to $1500 or maybe $2000. Thanks in advance.

My family is traveling to Florence in October. This is not our first Florentine rodeo, so to speak - we've done a lot of sightseeing and exploring on past visits. This time, we thought it might be fun to delve a little deeper and take a class (cooking?), workshop, special organized tour, etc. Four adults, fairly foodie, up for anything that isn't too physically strenuous. Any MeFi "Been There Done That" recommendations?

Hello
We are thinking of taking a vacation from Sept 2nd to the 11th somewhere south of the united states (no Mexico/Puerto Rico as we just visited these places)
What countries/cities/towns would you all suggest? We are considering weather (including hurricanes), travel time (less is better) from the NW U.S., and looking for an experience that is different from home.
We are thinking of Belize as a possibility but nothing is definite. In the past we have driven across puerto rico and went by (local) bus down the yucatan peninsula. We enjoyed those. We are not interested in going there again but this gives some idea of the kind of travel we enjoy.
