London to Berlin by train. The best option I've found is Eurostar to Paris then sleeper to Berlin for £250. This seems expensive. Are there faster/cheaper options?

I'm taking a journey by car from London (England) to Portmeirion (North Wales) and back a day later. The quickest route appears to be M1-M6-M54-A5 and then eastwards through Snowdonia and a variety of smaller roads. Along this route, say anywhere after Northampton, are there any lovely/eccentric places to stop either for some brief sightseeing or for a bite to eat and something to drink? [more inside]

Please advise me on cool techno dance clubs in London. My hubby and I will be there from this friday to next saturday. I love techno, and want to experience a wide variety of dance clubs (trendy, unique, old school, hard core just dancing, etc.) Please include how you typify the club (trendy, old school, etc.) when you list them, as well as what nights are best there. We are especially interested in any near the Waterloo station (that's where we will be staying.) Thanks! [more inside]

For recent travellers, is the U.S. still a bargain? Specifically, how would you compare the price of eating out in a similarly semi-fancy restaurant in 1) San Francisco, 2) Seattle, 3) London, 4) Paris, 5) New York. Let's peg the baseline cost at about $50/person in San Francisco, excluding wine. [more inside]
