Help me compile a togo list. I'm open to everywhere, everything. What is your favorite lesser-known US National Park or State Park for car camping? And the best time of year to visit?

My family and I will be traveling with some friends to Moscow, ID in July. Our friends will be staying with their family, and we will need a place to stay for a few nights. We hoped to camp, but it doesn't look like much of a camping place, am I right? Where should we stay? B&B? Hotel? Or are there campsites close by? We are 2 adults, 2 kids (ages 2 and 5).

i am hoping you guys can help me find a great book to read. i loved bill bryson's "a walk in the woods." do you know of one that would be in that vein (travel/ humor) but dealing with car camping, or national parks, or maybe even driving with your family cross country? alternately, how about something similar to Annie dillard's "pilgrim at tinker creek" but more specific to the canyonlands area? thank you!

Two moms, three home-educated early-teen boys, planning a learning adventure for two weeks at the end of August. Driving north from South Florida, which civil war sites/events should we not miss? Also looking for great not-too-primitive tent camping. So far all we know for sure is that we want to check out Gettysburg. We want to make it educational, but awesome and fun for our not-too-fascinated kids. Your suggestions welcome!

Myself and two friends have decided to do our annual reunion in Olympic National park but since we’re all short on vacation, we only have Friday night through Sunday afternoon. Is there a way we could somehow combine a 4-10 mile day hike with a coastal experience in this amount of time? I've seen the wta.org and nps.gov sites but I'm sort of overwhelmed by choice and looking for recommendations.

My wife and I saw the lineup for Langerado last night and both of us are dying to go. However, around that first weekend in march, she will be eight months pregnant (or seven, math is hard, we're due in early May). She has never had an experience like Langerado, i.e. festivals full of hippies and lots of music. I have, and we have been meaning to do one together but things like law school and jobs have prevented us from doing so.
Should the pregnancy stop us now?

Hubby and I are planning a last minute trip to Mexico. We're going to fly into Cancun and don't plan on renting a car since we're on a tight budget. We'd like to find a beach campground that's along the Caribbean Sea where we can stay away from crowds and just relax and maybe even do some shore fishing. Would be great it's within walking distance to a small local restaurant of sorts or even if it's just stalls. Does one exist? For the life of me, I have not been able to find any budget beach camping information online. I guess what makes it more difficult is that we'd like to be able to get there by bus and/or colectivo, if possible and it will be during the holidays! I knew I should have researched before booking but we got a good price and well...it will be winter and we could use the sun! Anyone BTDT? :)
p.s. I'm totally open to suggestions! TIA!!!

Need advice for two tent camping newbies about to travel the country via Honda Accord. Is KOA generally reputable/nonscuzzy nowadays? Any other hints for this year's summer season? Recommendations on equipment? Do you have to reserve ahead of time (we are trying to not schedule ourselves too much!) or can you usually show up in the evening and get a spot? This question is as broad as can be - all advice welcome. We are happy to do some off-trail places but don't want to backpack necessarily.
