Car rental in Maui?

I've just booked a trip for three to Maui. We're staying near the Kaanapali Beach, but would like to explore the forests and volcanoes and all the groovy nature stuff. Should I rent a small car to get around, or is there fairly reliable public transport? Renting a car isn't that expensive, but hotel does have parking fees, and I'm not sure how hard it is to find parking around the island.

Need medical air transport from the Phoenix area to Dallas area

(Asking for a friend) We're trying to find a service that will fly my dad from the Phoenix area to the Dallas area, with a medical attendant. Uncertain of an exact diagnosis yet, but it's either complications from stage IV lung cancer or congestive heart failure. Heart and respiratory monitoring would be necessary, although he does have a DNR. (Don't know what difference that makes.) He is currently hospitalized but may be released in the next couple days. We need to find a way to get him home without the 2-1/2 day drive, and he likely cannot fly commercial. [more inside]

how do i transport my cat from nyc to montreal?

So, my cat is too big to fit in the small pet carrier that's allowed for Delta flights between nyc and montreal, so I can't take my cat as a carry-on. It doesn't look like I can take my cat with me via greyhound or amtrak, so, what are my alternatives?

I'm taking my son to the US embassy in London to get his first adult passport. We're driving from Bristol, because train tix are too expensive. I was thinking of parking at the Kings mall in Hammersmith then tubing it. Our appointment at the embassy is at noon. Does anyone local have better suggestions? Feel free to tell me this a a stupid idea and I should rethink because it's half term or whatever. Thank you!

Up-to-date travel advice: Germany, Austria, Czech Republic

we're leaving next week for a US to Germany [Munich] to Austria to Czech Republic [Prague]. Our plan was to use train travel--how difficult is this with current events and great numbers of people seeking refuge across Europe? Are there English language websites that would provide us with reliable information? Any other advice for us? Hitch-hiking is not an option. thank you

Do you have a city with an awesome mass transit app?

I just read this comment, and thought this was AWESOME. But unfortunately, it kinda doesn't work. Does your city have an app (iOS preferable, but I can always get a cheap android phone to check it out), that has an AWESOME app for mass transit? Whats the app? "Real time tracker" is what I'm looking for (i think). It need not be awesome in terms of fonts, design, etc. I kinda just want it to be more than a list of schedules. [more inside]

We need to get from the airport down to the Fort District without getting taken for a ride, as it were. What do you recommend: Taxi rank at the airport? Reliable car service? Recommendations sought.

restaurants in Madrid, Spain or roads exiting for 2 pm tomorrow?

At short notice we'll be flying into Barajas tomorrow at 11am, picking up family at Av De America bus station at 12.30 and driving down to Malaga. I haven't lived in Madrid for 20 years but I do know that restaurants around Principe de Vergara are unlikely to have come down in price! Are there smaller locations as we exit Madrid that would be better options for a family of 6? what's traffic like at this time of the year? what's the latest serving time? thanks..

Denver, Estes Park, Red Rocks - and no car!

My girlfriend and I are visiting Denver in mid-June for five days, primarily to see Devotchka to play at Red Rocks - but we're keen to do a bit of sightseeing as well. Our current plan is to go straight from DIA to Estes Park via shuttle bus, stay there for a couple of days, do some hikes, etc, then (somehow?!) get to Downtown Denver. We'd drop our bags there, get a taxi (or similar) to Red Rocks and back for the concert, and then head to DIA. Hiring a car isn't an option... does this sound sane? [more inside]

How to get guests from the parking lot to the wedding?

Wedding transport help. A friend of mine is getting married and I'm helping arrange logistics. Buy a case for a double bass?

Mrs Singingfish has the opportunity to have her double bass transported from Europe to Australia in a shipping container. At present she has no case for it, but the container she's getting it shipped in will also going to have a baby grand piano in it, so the container will be being packed by professional instrument movers, so the bass will be crated etc. Do you think she should buy a soft case for extra insurance? A hard (flight) case is out of the question due to cost and bulk.
