I will be heading to Zurich to see the end of the EV Wave event in early July and need a city centre hotel that is affordable to stay at. Good public transport links are a must as this is how I will be getting around. Suggestions?

I'm considering selling my car and transitioning from using my car for most tasks (groceries, commuting to work, seeing friends, etc) to using mostly my bicycle for these same things. I plan to also get an "occasional" Zip car membership as well. Has anyone out there gone through this process? How was that transition for you and do you have any concrete advice for someone like me who is thinking about this pretty big shift in changing modes of transportation?

My girlfriend and I are visiting Denver in mid-June for five days, primarily to see Devotchka to play at Red Rocks - but we're keen to do a bit of sightseeing as well. Our current plan is to go straight from DIA to Estes Park via shuttle bus, stay there for a couple of days, do some hikes, etc, then (somehow?!) get to Downtown Denver. We'd drop our bags there, get a taxi (or similar) to Red Rocks and back for the concert, and then head to DIA. Hiring a car isn't an option... does this sound sane?

Wedding transport help. A friend of mine is getting married and I'm helping arrange logistics. We're going to have the guests all park in a public parking lot about a mile from the site of the wedding (which is at someone's house - there is no closer place than this parking lot to fit ~100 guests' cars). The question is how best to get them from the parking lot to the site of the wedding? More details below.

This morning I was hit by a bus while cycling to work. I'm not badly hurt but currently in hospital waiting to have my shoulder checked and cuts cleaned out. I'm in London, England.
The bus driver was 100% to blame. The police have taken a statement from me and I have two phone numbers from witnesses. What should I be doing now to make sure I receive adequate compensation and the driver is dealt with appropriately?

I live in Austin, Texas. I have books and music equipment in Easthapton, Mass. I will be up there in June and have looked for rental vehicles to drive back to Texas. The cost for a one way U-haul is about $1400. Avis charges $1200. I-Pod shipping cost over $2000. Is there any other way to get my stuff to Texas without the cost of a used car?

Mrs Singingfish has the opportunity to have her double bass transported from Europe to Australia in a shipping container. At present she has no case for it, but the container she's getting it shipped in will also going to have a baby grand piano in it, so the container will be being packed by professional instrument movers, so the bass will be crated etc. Do you think she should buy a soft case for extra insurance? A hard (flight) case is out of the question due to cost and bulk.

I'd like to ask a relatively simple question – what would happen if we switched of traffic lights when we didn't really need them? I'd like to know from an environmental aspect what effect turning off the nations traffic lights would have towards saving electricity and reducing emissions. From a social point of view could the nation's road users manage with such a change? And from a technical innovation view point – could it and should it happen and if so how?
