I've transfered some mp3s from one hard drive (windows) to another (Linspire), and dang it, the titles are all messed up ("09thel~1", "lostbo~3", etc). Can I redo the transfer or do I have to fix all brazillion titles manually (unpossible)? Thanks.

I have a 60gig Photo Ipod. In order to keep my computer's hardrive relative clean, I do not keep my MP3's stored in the Itunes library. All 9500 are strictly on my IPOD. I know I run the ris of losing all that upload work should my ipod get lost or break, but it was by choice. I recently bought a 250 gig external hard drive for the sole purpose of keeping all of my MP3's and important computer files on there....What I want to do and havent been able to figure out is, how could I go about transferring all the MP3 files from my IPOD to my computer and then to the external drive. I have a large hard drive that was in my Win 98 machine. It's got 50 gb of MP3s on it that I bought over 3 years at emusic. However, I now have a Mac (powerbook) with Panther. I have an external firewire enclosure for that drive and when I plug it into the Mac, it sees the drive (appears on the desktop) but can't read or write to it (tells me I have to format it). How can I get the music off of it? I want to move the music onto a different external firewire drive that I bought with the Mac and where the music I bought since switching sits.

Here's a poser, inspired by this thread: In the late 1980s and early 1990s, my boon friend Jamie Mowder made me a truly incomparable series of audio collages on cassette tape. These labors of love were half-hour-(i.e. tapeside)-long call-and-response marathons of Henry Rollins yelping at Quentin Crisp and Ed Koch with Professor Longhair dressing down Jimmy Pursey...you get the idea.

They're priceless, irreplaceable. And now I want to transfer them to mp3. Does anybody have any ideas as to a reasonably elegant way to achieve this? Posterity will thank you, as will I.
