I got clocked at 22 over the speed limit. The court date is September 10, the cop told me if I pay within the 20 days, they will drop it from 6 points to 4 points. Should I appear in court? What can I do to reduce this ticket? Will they reduce it if I go to court? How much will this raise my insurance? About me: 23, never had a ticket before this, pulled over once before and given a warning. The ticket is $250.

Can (NY state) traffic court simply reschedule your trial if a cop fails to show at the hearing?

The other day I got a ticket entering the Lincoln tunnel for going 29 in a 5 mile an hour zone. I was cruising down the ramp and just sort of rolled through. All tickets given at the Lincoln tunnel require an appearance at the Weehawken Municipal Court. A fact that seems to be nothing more than an excuse to gouge you for additional fines.
There are lawyers who offer their services in the court and I'm wondering if anyone has done this or had any success using a lawyer.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

My wife has a ticket in North Charleston for Careless Operation. The officer told her that the $255 ticket would be reduced when she showed up in court. How much will it be reduced, and is it worth asking for the court date to be changed?

My wife showed up to traffic court to take her lumps, but the clerks were mass-dismissing cases without even letting people in to see the judges. What gives?
