Last night I happened to take a look at my snow covered deck and noticed what appeared to be some animal tracks in the snow. It appears to me there are track from two or three distinct animals. I'm hoping someone can help identify them. [more inside]
I have a new commute that is hilly and mostly off-road, instead of my previous flat all paved one. I don't think my Dutch bike is suited to this, but I LOOOOOOOVE it so much. I never really enjoyed cycling before I got it. Is there a better suited bike that will make me equally happy? [more inside]
I stumbled across a producer who has had 720,659 listeners to one of her tracks. It has also been favorited 12740 times. Yet she has 12 tracks, is following 404 people and is followed by 114 people. Why doesn't she have a lot of followers? I thought I understood it and the thinking of how and why people use it, but I must not.
Is there a basic online DAW that my friend in another city and I can use to collaborate on music? We want to do an album in 24 hours, and we're looking for a site where we can upload parts of audio tracks we are working on and do basic editing on them. [more inside]

I am trying to learn a couple of songs really well for an upcoming drag performance. Is there any way to make either itunes or grooveshark(or other online music services) make these songs come up unreasonably often while shuffling through a larger playlist? [more inside]

Itunes is not retrieving titles for CDs from CDBB. It tries to but gets nothing after a few seconds. I am not sure it is even connecting to CDBB or what error(s) are occurring. I even reinstalled Itunes 9 (9.0.2 - newest) and it still does it. I do get the response "This CD was not found in CDBB database. You can enter information for the CD and each of its tracks. If this is not a commercial CD etc etc etc"...I've tried several CDs such as the Doors, Pete Townsend, Roxy Music...all ones that have worked on previous Itunes incarnations. I am not sure if it is an Itunes thing, a Mac/computer thing, or CDBB thing. This is a new thing and wasn't happening before. I have had the computer about a year if that matters. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help and have a good upcoming holiday.
iTunes won't order/list/play songs in an album in the order of the track number. I have specified the correct track number of the songs in the info thing, but it won't sort according to that field within an album. Is there some way to get around this? [more inside]

Is there a way to quickly check if a certain song (or artist) is on Pitchfork's list of the top 500 tracks of the decade? I've been Googling to try to see if anyone has posted a plain-text version of the whole list on one page, but I haven't found it. [more inside]

Today is Halloween and i can't procrastinate anymore...I guess I have to go as the only thing I could come up with: A damsel in distress. I wanna look like the girls in the old westerns when they get tied to train tracks by the bad guy. Any suggestions on what to use as train tracks? I can run over to home depot, I just don't know what to look for that's lightweight (i'm a small girl) and looks like tracks. I can nail a few things together without problem. [more inside]

Does anyone have a good download link for the entirety of thepartyparty's tracks? I remember I used to have 8 or 9 different remixes, but the website seems to have whittled that down to only 5, and with no clean download links. I need my "Dick is a Killer"!
i'm looking for a site like jamglue, but one more focussed on the indie-rock/acoustic stuff, and way less consumed by hip-hop? what are similar web-based, track editing/mixing alternatives? [more inside]
Given a choice between two nice apartments with the same rent, would you take one that is directly next to a train track (just moving people-- no freight) and about two floors up, but with nicer interior and better appliances, or would you take one that's slightly smaller and without any train noise? Along the same lines, do you get used to the noise? I was in the apartment when an express went by and it was quite loud...

iTunes added my new music tracks as podcast episodes, but doesn't show them under Podcasts -- how can I delete them?
I added some new music tracks to iTunes, and for some reason it thought they were podcast episodes. So it doesn't show them under 'Music'. But it's not showing them in the 'Podcasts' library either. I've deleted the music files from the Finder, but how can I clear out the tracks from my iTunes library? [more inside]

A month or so ago, I became unable to add new tracks to Itunes. Whether I try to add via clicking on the track, dragging into iTunes, or adding the track from the file menu, the result is the same. I have also tried changing my preferences so that the track does not copy to the iTunes library when it is added; still the same. When I try to add a track, my hard drive just spins and makes a little clicking noise and iTunes goes into "not responding" mode, with the spinning pinwheel. [more inside]

I'm relatively new to New York and ride the subway every day. When I'm on the above-ground lines I notice another "fourth" rail in between the two running rails that doesn't look like it is used, but is securely tied down. Sometimes there's even a fifth rail, also in the middle. Usually this rail doesn't run continuously and it occasionally curves or has other oddities. What is this fourth rail for? [more inside]

Audio editing on OSX: I have a 30 minute long .aiff file that I'd like to break into separate tracks and convert to mp3. I know that iTunes can handle the .aiff -> .mp3 conversion. Is there software that can do the 1 .aiff -> 6 .aiffs part? Or one that can do 1 .mp3 -> 6 .mp3s if I do the conversion first?

Why does the iTunes music store have partial albums that are missing only one track? That makes it outrageously expensive to buy a CD with more than 9 tracks and seems a pretty dumb business move on their part. [Specifically, I tried to buy "Sign O'The Times" after the Prince thread, and it's missing a track.]
Is there a plug-in for iTunes (windows) that will allow me to easily view the track information for the current song, even if I am far away from my computer?
