Hi! We're going to be in San Fran this weekend and are looking for somewhere awesome to eat in Chinatown. Where do you recommend? But there's some considerations... [more inside]
I will vacation in Taiwan shortly, arriving late afternoon on Saturday, June 18. I have a reservation at the W Taipei from then until Thursday the 23rd. That Thursday, I figure on leaving Taipei and traveling to elsewhere on the island, maybe taking the train down the west coast to Tainan and Kaoshiung, then returning to Taipei or Taoyuan the night of Saturday the 25th and catching my flight out the morning of the 26th. My interests for the trip include food, contemporary and traditional art and culture, food, areas of great natural or architectural beauty, nightlife, and food. [more inside]
We're NYCers going on a 2 week trip to Toronto on the 26th. We've never been! What are the new exciting sites? The old established stuff? (Again, we've never been!) We like history, werid engineering dork stuff, movie stuff, dive bars, gayness, unusual stores and secondhand vintage menswear. We don't drive, but we'd like a nice trip out of town by train or even bus. Exciting cuisine a must overall. [more inside]
Me and one girlfriend have a layover at Pu Dong airport (yuck yuck yuck) from 7:00 PM to 10:30 AM. We're wondering what to do, and whether it's safe to roam around Shanghai all night. [more inside]
I'm going to be spending a week in Tokyo Oct 23-30, and my plan is mainly to eat delicious food and wander around. I lived there for 2 years 1997-99 so I've pretty much seen all the major tourist stuff. Current locals, what are your favorite things to do or eat? [more inside]
Where should my boyfriend and I go and what should we do on a day trip to the Monterey Bay area? [more inside]
I'm planning on taking a solo trip to Berlin for a week. As a general guideline, if I stick to cafes (and the occasional doner kebab) how much should I expect to spend on food?
I'm going to SF with my partner for our first wedding anniversary - yay! We've been before and have seen some of the sights (list after the break), but are looking for things we might have missed, awesome places we haven't eaten at, great things we haven't seen, etc, so we can make the most of it. Only limiting factor: neither of us drive. [more inside]

Looking for a fun hotel to stay at in San Francisco, and your recommendations for where to go for a romantic dinner... [more inside]
My husband and I would like to go to New Orleans, LA in March, 2012. We're fairly laid back and not huge into the tourism craziness that I tend to associate with NOLA. It is possible to go to The Big Easy and, well, have a chill time? [more inside]
So we're headed to that concrete jungle where dreams are made of, New York City, for the first time ever... and in August. Suggestions for both touristy and non-touristy things to do in 7 days during the dog days of summer. Details on our tastes, etc, inside... [more inside]
I'm going to be in Venice for the next week and a half! Please give me some recommendations for food and sightseeing. Thanks!
Hi all. I am looking for recommendations for food in Venice (anything from a Paninoteca to a Ristorante). I've read that it is difficult to find good food in Venice, so I'm hoping the Metafilter hive mind can help me out. In addition, any recommendations for sightseeing would be great. Especially non-traditional/off the beaten path stuff. Thanks again.

I am a food tourist, and I'll soon be in Seoul to bring my adoptive daughter home from Korea. I will have 1-3 days to kill and try not to be too nervous before I meet her, so I need immersive, fun, food-related things to take my mind off the upcoming excitement and give my nervous energy something to focus on. I'm going to tulsa in a month. I recently ate the biggest steak in Amarillo - 72 oz - at the big texan. Is there anything similar in Tulsa I should sacrifice my health for? The world's biggest cheeseburger? A dinner roll the size of a baby? Anything? [more inside]
