I ran across a travelogue a while back of two young women going on a long bicycle tour in the Eastern U.S. in the 1930s or 1940s. I think they started from Pennsylvania or another nearby state and originally intended to go west, but ended up going south. On the return trip, I think they took a boat up the Mississippi or another major river. Does this ring a bell?

My family is traveling to Florence in October. This is not our first Florentine rodeo, so to speak - we've done a lot of sightseeing and exploring on past visits. This time, we thought it might be fun to delve a little deeper and take a class (cooking?), workshop, special organized tour, etc. Four adults, fairly foodie, up for anything that isn't too physically strenuous. I want to promote my Young Adult fantasy novel about Morgan le Fay on the web. The biggest audience should be young women and libraries; Wiccans, medieval re-enactors and King Arthur fans would dig it, too (I hope).
