Three kids, two weeks, one car: Toronto to San Francisco vacation, or "if you like it so much then quit your job!"

Late-March roadtrip from Toronto to San Francisco, or wherever we end up by the time we have to head back. We've got two weeks, or sixteen days if we really need it. There's three of us. We currently have no plan and only vague notions of freedom on the road and driving into podunk towns to see giant balls of twine. As such, we have tons of logistics questions, which I will attempt to summarize: [more inside]

Come take my fridge, Toronto government employees!

A short while ago I saw an ad on Toronto subways, probably put up by the city, about a program where they come into your apartment and remove an unwanted fridge. I visited the site for it but didn't bookmark it and now I can't find it and have an extra fridge in my living room. It is not this site, but was one where you fill in a form and submit and they set up an appt to come by. Anyone know the site?

What Would OFFICER Gladys Kravitz Do About the Bad Neighbour?

Please help me to find, and to understand Toronto's Construction and Parking By-Laws, and then how to have them enforced and upheld strictly, quickly, and legally in order to protect our rights, our property and our peace of mind. I have been to the city's website, and have downloaded Chapter 363 Building Construction and Demolition and am trying to understand how to apply the information in it. I've Googled, and have written to the City Planner and our local Councillor's office for information and advice - but know from experience that their responses take days if not weeks and I see that we will sometimes need to immediately effect change. Jokingly mentioning to the construction workers "Please kind to your neighbours!" isn't working. I need to take Gladys Kravitzing to the next level. [more inside]
