I'm a web developer in Toronto who is currently operating as a sole proprietor. A prospective new client would really like to hire me for a major new project, but they can only deal with incorporated companies and cannot hire a sole prop. I'm looking for advice on incorporating from a) people in Canada and especially Ontario, but also from b) anyone who has any relevant advice about the experience of becoming an Inc., even if you are not Canadian. Yes, I will be engaging an accountant or lawyer for specific advice if I do decide to move forward, so I'm not worried that some specific advice may not be appropriate for my jurisdiction: I'm just trying to get a broad picture of what it's like (and some recommendations for lawyers/accountants). What bird did I just see harrassing a squirrel in my Toronto backyard? (Sorry, I couldn't get a camera in time so I have just a verbal description, no picture). [more inside]
I want to go to there, but I need your advice on where "there" is. Starting point: Toronto. Range: any land within 100 km (60-ish miles) of High Park, but I can go further for something really special. Means of transport: my trusty steed. Time frame: now until November-ish. I'm looking for great routes or awesome destinations, urban, rural or suburban, like the best roti in Scarborough, a tiny potter's studio somewhere in Peel, or a gorgeous path by some body of water that isn't Lake Ontario. I want to go somewhere to do something neat, like picking apples or riding horses. And this is not Torontofilter or bikefilter. I'm looking for creative ideas from anyone, anywhere. [more inside]
Can anyone recommend a great or really good dentist in Toronto? I've seen a few names mentioned in related AskMe questions over the past couple of years, but I'd like to know if these people are still recommended or if anyone else is worth checking out. [more inside]
Toronto cable tv frustration: should I dump Rogers for Bell? [more inside]
What options do I have for what seems like a sudden acute bursitis attack in my right shoulder? I'm in Toronto and have an appointment for my first cortisone shot Tuesday (I may be able to successfully beg a shot on Monday), but I don't know if I can wait that long for my clinic to open again. It hurts a lot and I can't even sleep through the night. It's been getting worse since waking up Friday morning, not better. [more inside]
I need to find a shoulder wrap like this one from Therma Wrap or this one from ActiveWrap so that I can securely ice my shoulder. I'm in Toronto and would rather not pay an additional $33 for shipping from the States. Cheaper is better ($69.95 for ActiveWrap?!), but if all else fails, I could try to sew something. My dodgy left shoulder and I would greatly appreciate any solid leads on Toronto suppliers.
Does any store in Toronto stock Kate Spade eyeglass frames? I'm looking for this, or this, if possible, but I'd like the chance to browse for anything similar.
Where can I get pure jojoba oil in Toronto? All I'm finding so far are various compound moisturizers that include jojoba, but I just want a little bottle of the oil itself.
