I live in Toronto. My two roommates and I signed a lease to begin in September 2014, and to end in August 2016. My roommates are not interested in extending the lease, and have already found new places to live. However, I am interested in staying, and have told the landlords so. Do I have any right to stay? Before I left the UK I was getting steroid injections on the NHS to treat around 20 keloid scars on my shoulders, chest and back. I'd like to continue that treatment in Toronto... [more inside]

The used hybrid I got for $200 a few years ago needs a proper, robust kickstand (ideally a double kickstand) to replace the weakass kickstand it has right now. I need something strong enough to hold the bike steady when loading the back rack with groceries, but I'm not thrilled at paying half my bike's cost for a model like this one. I've seen cheaper ones like this, but some reviews suggest that it rides really low when folded back. And this one is in-between in price, but I'm wondering about how effective it is. Suggestions? Easy shipping to Canada or a local store in Toronto would be appreciated.
My cousin's coming to Toronto to go to the Bata Shoe Museum with me next Saturday. We'd like to have lunch before we check out the shoes of antiquity. Can any recommend a good and inexpensive place for us to have lunch in the Bloor & St. George area?

My landlord needs a couple of days to fix some stuff in my bathroom so I booked a last minute trip to Toronto this week, from Wednesday to Thursday (coming via train from Montréal). My birthday is also coming up shortly + I recently hit an investment milestone so I would like to treat myself a bit! [more inside]
Another 'find me a dress like this dress' question. I'm loving this dress for my wedding. Not loving the price tag. Suggestions for something similar either online or in Toronto? [more inside]
We're NYCers going on a 2 week trip to Toronto on the 26th. We've never been! What are the new exciting sites? The old established stuff? (Again, we've never been!) We like history, werid engineering dork stuff, movie stuff, dive bars, gayness, unusual stores and secondhand vintage menswear. We don't drive, but we'd like a nice trip out of town by train or even bus. Exciting cuisine a must overall. [more inside]
I'm trying to do some medium-sized renovations, but my family friend architect is letting us down and stalling the work before it starts. How should we deal with him in order to get the work done in a decent amount of time, without the budget going crazy? [more inside]

I am buying my plane tickets for a trip this summer. One ticket has as its return a change of plane/layover time of 1hr 35m between the flight from Paris to Toronto and the flight from Toronto to Kansas City. Alternatively, I can go with a different flight that on the return goes from Paris to Chicago with a 2h 45m layover. I'm assuming the latter is the option I should go with due to Customs delays but want other traveler's opinions for confirmation. [more inside]
Can you recommend a person or service in Toronto who will coordinate the event for us on our wedding day? [more inside]
We're visiting Toronto for the first time! We need a place to stay for two weeks! We don't know what to look for in a hotel aside from a nice place, but I'd like something fun and the SO would like a quiet place with lots of amenities (think wifi and breakfasts) that isn't too, in his words, "werid". All suggestions open and none of us drive, so public transit links/ access to typical tourist tat are key.
I want to have a series of conversations next week in a quiet restaurant (no loud music or background noise) which has at least a couple of decent vegan options on the menu. I'm hoping for something in the St. Lawrence area of Toronto, or, failing that, Corktown or downtown would be good. The group would be 3-5 people. Someplace with entrees under $30; $10-15 entrees best. Any suggestions?
We are very excited to be married in September! We live in downtown Toronto and would like to find a lawyer to help us make a prenuptial agreement, mainly to handle unequal assets. Can you recommend a family lawyer to help us with this? [more inside]
I’m single, in my late 20s, living in Toronto. My family thinks it’s time for me to buy property and has generously offered to give me enough money to put down a 25% down payment. I’m feeling slightly overwhelmed and hesitant, for a few reasons. I'm at the very beginning of thinking about this so I'm probably missing some fairly obvious things. Please help me think through this. [more inside]
This year for the first time ever my tax return is $0, though last year under very similar circumstances I got almost $1000 back. I'm well below the poverty line. Is there some way for me to get someone to check over my tax return for free? [more inside]
I'm from Nova Scotia. I moved to Ontario in 2012 and I am having serious food homesickness. I know there are Ontarioan Mefites, and possibly some fellow homesick Atlantic Canadian Mefites. I'm moving to Toronto soon and I want to source some ingredients or find some restaurants that serve Atlantic Canadian style dishes. [more inside]

A couple of lawyers have given me opposing opinions and I'm feeling stuck. This community has given me a lot of great advice in the past, so...if anyone can recommend a reliable/knowledgeable divorce lawyer in the Toronto area (hopefully west of Yonge and hopefully less that $400/hr.) I'll be very grateful. I'm watching my Memail.
I’m looking forward to a few months of planned professional downtime very soon, and I’d like to have access to workshop facilities to develop some 3D printed and laser/CNC-cut plywood constructions. I’m in the east end, and would prefer something readily subway accessible. I’ve heard that some of the better known places have their equipment over used and under maintained, and I’d like to avoid that kind of downtime. All suggestions gratefully considered.
I took a complete driver training program in Toronto. I had a bad experience. I still need more lessons, but don't want to continue with this school. Can anyone recommend a good instructor who can take me out driving, for a reasonable rate? [more inside]
My 2.5 year old son can't seem to keep gloves on his hands. They fall off with the slightest touch, not to mention when I hold his hand to walk to preschool. Can you recommend any kid (and adult) friendly gloves or mittens for a 2.5 year old? The heartier the better, as we live in Toronto, Canada.

I live in a studio apartment with parquet flooring. The building is old for one in Toronto (~25 years), and the heating comes from pipes embedded in the ceiling of the room. The tenants right under my unit have their heat constantly turned on, which means my floor is constantly hot. Turning on my AC and two fans all the time doesn't solve the problem, and is borderline surreal as I embark on yet another Toronto winter. [more inside]

Maybe a decade ago I read a book on the history of live music venues in Toronto from the 1950s to maybe the eighties or nineties. I am maybe 80% sure that title was borrowed from a song title, but every one that comes to mind (e.g "Heart of Gold") is something other than this. Anyone know the book? [more inside]

My boyfriend and I just got engaged after being together for four years. Hooray! We're thinking about getting married in June 2017, and we want to do it in or near Toronto, Ontario, with about 95 friends and family members. I've scoured the Internet for venues, asked friends for recommendations, and we've found some decent options but since this is going to cost us a lot of money (though both sets of parents will help out), I want to consider all possible options. We want to find a place where we can do both ceremony and reception (with dinner and dancing), and where the cost of the venue, including food and alcohol (open bar), comes to $13,000 or less. I'm looking for a family doctor in Toronto for my mother. Do these doctors accept patients, or do they just do inpatient/emergency/other hospital work? [more inside]
We're looking for a rehearsal dinner in Toronto for up to 125 people. We'd like it to be transit-accessible. Our limit is $65/person for food and rental and we want a consumption bar. Any suggestions? [more inside]
I live in an area with a significant Portuguese population (Rhode Island - southeastern Massachusetts), and I am currently visiting Lisbon. However, I have never seen the type of roast chicken advertised as "Portuguese chicken" anywhere other than Toronto. Okay, the Portuguese restaurants in my home area will serve you chicken, but they're not especially known for it. Is it just me, or does there not even seem to be that much roast chicken in Lisbon? (Delicious cuisine overall, though - especially the seafood!) [more inside]
