How will global warming effect tomato growing in Seattle?

I have a small container garden and I enjoy growing tomatoes. I've had mixed success. Some years, when the summer seems cooler, none of my tomatoes have ripened and I end up throwing out large amounts of rotten vegetables. How will global warming effect the ripening of my tomatoes? [more inside]

Pleasant Tomato?

I am looking for a nice-sounding tomato-shaped timer for a gift. Both the ticking and the times-up ring should be pleasant and not grating/surprising. All the ones on Amazon seem to have bad reviews because they are obnoxious. Thoughts? And Thanks!

Help me identify these particularly delicious tomatoes

Why do tomato plants "give up" branches?

I've grown tomatoes three times now, and have noticed that my tomato plants seem to "give up" certain branches/stems. The affected stems turn yellow and do not flower; if I don't prune them off right away, they eventually turn brittle and snap off the plant easily. [more inside]

What substance is coming off my tomatoes?

Hello, We had some "off the vine" tomatoes we bought at the store and I was cleaning them with water and wiped them with a paper towel and noticed a yellowish stain on the paper towel. I wiped very well, then rinsed and finally the new paper towel I used was clean. What do you think this is? Is it tomato tar?

Port-Forwarding To Different Internal Port, Keeping It Simple

My old router with Tomato firmware did it very simply: there was a blank for the external port, and a blank for the internal port behind NAT, and external traffic sent to the external port gets forwarded to the internal computer on the internal port. Now, I can't seem to find any router hardware or alternative firmware that does it so simply. [more inside]

What can I do with so many tomatoes?

After years of gardening failure, our tomato plants are producing like crazy this year. We've been eating tomatoes raw, making spaghetti sauce, and having bruschetta with about half our meals. For breakfast, I had an egg inside a roasted tomato. I've been having tomato and cheese sandwiches for lunch. Every day after work I've been eating a whole, raw tomato. Despite all these efforts, we just can't eat the tomatoes fast enough. What can we do? Please suggest ways to consume more tomatoes now as well as things we could make now and eat later.
