Without a podiatrist, how do I fix my big toe? I do not think it is a hangnail, and it looks normal to the eye. But I could bump it on a down pillow and it will be so painful I want to chop it off. And it's a delayed pain.

Broke my foot 2 years ago - seems like the gait has been altered and now my shoes don't fit as well and pressure started being put on my baby toe right on the inside between that toe and the adjacent one and a small corn has developed making every step excruciating.
So I went to get one of those silicone inserts and it's helping somewhat. Also got new shoes. But now what? Will the corn disappear by itself? Is there anything that's not hyper-toxic that I can use on it to hasten the healing? I can't afford to go to a podiatrist right now - so anything that is suggested has to take this into consideration.

Broken tibia & fibula, 3.5 months ago, clean snap. I got an intramedullary rod in the tibia, screws at the ankle and knee, and absolutely no recommendations for PT other than some exercises to do at home from the doctor. Everything else seems to have healed well enough, but - my big toe ain't movin', and it's stuck in permanent "up".

The tip of my left big toe* sometimes gets numb, down to the point about half-way down the nail, all around the toe. I can't see any cause for this. It's not injured or gangrenous.
