Have toddler, will travel, but how to minimize protesting?

Can you suggest some good classic (read: legally free) ebooks for little people around the age of 3? We're planning for a road trip, and we have a long list of good distractions, but I want to lighten our load of books by utilizing our Kindle Fire and the wonders of the Internet Archive and other sources for high quality digital books. Do you know of any good sites that compile such lists, or can you suggest some good picture books from such sources? And any suggestions for distracting a little person on a road trip would also be appreciated. [more inside]

Soooo Boooored....

Give me some fun ideas to do with my not yet walking, grass hating, only has interest in climbing stairs 15 month old. I'm getting rather bored with him during the day and I don't know what to do with him. [more inside]

Sweetie, Mommy's incapicitated today.

I threw out my back pretty badly. My ability to move is limited to a low shuffle. I am also home with my two year old. What can I do with him today? [more inside]

How is babby entertained?

I will soon be watching my 18 month-old niece. I have general questions about entertaining a small person, and more NYC/Brooklyn-centric inquiries about getting a toddler in and out of the subway. I also need fun, little kid-friendly things to do in Southern Brooklyn (Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, northern Park Slope) and the city beyond. [more inside]

How to keep a toddler or infant amused when it's too cold?

What are some fun (inside) games to play with a toddler? I love my 13 monther dearly but the recent snow and cold weather in the Northeast has forced us to stay inside where it's tougher to keep her entertained. [more inside]
