Tivo question about 2 boxes in same house, sucking off the same cable line teat, but 1 is getting some channels that the other doesn't. [more inside]

I've got a series 1 Tivo thats become a paper-weight ever since I upgraded to a series 2. So my question is, can I somehow hook up the 1 to the 2 as a sort of back-up machine?
