We're ditching our cable and researching alternatives.
We have two HD TiVo Series 3 boxes that we're not using (because the cable cards provided by Comcast would not work).
We're thinking of a set-up involving OTA television (we live in Atlanta, so reception should not be a problem) + something streaming, but we're not sure if we want to keep the TiVos or invest in something else -- Roku? Boxee? AppleTV?
And here's one major issue for me -- live sports (mainly the NFL and college football)?

I do not have cable or satellite and I need to watch a program on TNT. I have a TiVo DVR; PS3; Netflix streaming; ethernet connection to iMac. I am willing to spend a little money for the show. What's my best hope? (If the answer includes the ethernet connection to the computer, please explain clearly -- I'm not very computer savvy).

When I purchase an on-demand movie from Blockbuster on Tivo, why do I receive only the "letterboxed" (480i) version instead of the "full-screen" 1080 HD? I understand the ratio/aspect reasoning behind letterboxing but I find it hard to watch at my viewing distance from the screen. Is there a way to change the settings to receive full-screen HD or are only "letterboxed" versions available from Blockbuster on Tivo? My search for an answer has been fruitless. I have a 46" Sharp 1080P HDTV and use RCN cable. Thanks.

I have a Series 2 Tivo. After 5 months of no TV at all, I have TimeWarner cable again. In my area, T-W uses the Sci. Atlanta DVR tuner. It's less expensive than Tivo, by several $ a month. Is Tivo worth the extra $ and hassle?
