I had a Simple.tv, but it stunk. Channel quality was terrbile with my Mohu Leaf - when I plug the Leaf directly into my TV I received more channels, and in better quality. With Simple.tv not only did I not get all of the channels, but it was also terrible to use, constant freezing, needing to reboot, stuttering picture. I'm considering the Tablo or the Roamio OTA, but the monthly sub for the Roamio is $10 more than Tablo's.... are there any satisfied Tablo owners that can give me the green light?
AV experts, can you help me? I set up my current home entertainment system 11 years ago, and it's worked well for me. Now it is failing, and consumer electronics have moved on. I can't just replace the failing component with a new one because it is not being manufactured any longer, and I only need some parts of it. I'm having trouble integrating new things into the old setup. I need to upgrade/reconfigure my AV, and possibly wireless. Details inside. [more inside]
Moving from a situation where I have 1 TV to one where I will have multiple TVs. What is the high-quality budget alternative to get DVR content to multiple sets? [more inside]
I'm considering finally dropping cable and implementing a home DVR solution that captures over-the-air channels. I'm in the Phoenix metro area so will have no problems picking up the basic channels. I'm leaning toward the Simple.TV (the new one with two tuners) setup but wanted to see what other options might be out there. I subscribe to Netflix and have an Apple TV but don't want to pay for other subscriptions - which eliminates the Tivo. I also want everything to run off a dedicated "box" so I don't have to use a computer to manage things. So - in your experience, what works well? What doesn't? Is the Simple.TV 2 decent... or junky? I know this question has been addressed before but don't know what might be new in the last year-ish.
I have a Series 2 Tivo (dual tuner, with a 542 serial number if it matters), with the old lifetime subscription (so we don't pay monthly for the Tivo service). We would like to ditch our cable and get a Mohu Leaf Ultimate HDTV Antenna. Is there any way to keep our ability Tivo things without replacing the Tivo (and thereby losing our lifetime Tivo service?). Tivo says, officially, "no", but I'm thinking there must be something.....
So, through a series of unfortunate events we've made the switch to Comcast for tv & internet. In conjunction with the switch, we got a new Tivo Roamio. In order to make it work, we need a CableCard. How can I get one as painlessly as possible? [more inside]
Living in on-campus housing for the next 3 years, and have school provided cable and no cable box. There is no dvr that I could get through the university. What are my best options for dvr-like service? [more inside]
We're ditching our cable and researching alternatives. We have two HD TiVo Series 3 boxes that we're not using (because the cable cards provided by Comcast would not work). We're thinking of a set-up involving OTA television (we live in Atlanta, so reception should not be a problem) + something streaming, but we're not sure if we want to keep the TiVos or invest in something else -- Roku? Boxee? AppleTV? And here's one major issue for me -- live sports (mainly the NFL and college football)?

What's my best hope? (If the answer includes the ethernet connection to the computer, please explain clearly -- I'm not very computer savvy).

When I purchase an on-demand movie from Blockbuster on Tivo, why do I receive only the "letterboxed" (480i) version instead of the "full-screen" 1080 HD? I understand the ratio/aspect reasoning behind letterboxing but I find it hard to watch at my viewing distance from the screen. Is there a way to change the settings to receive full-screen HD or are only "letterboxed" versions available from Blockbuster on Tivo? My search for an answer has been fruitless. I have a 46" Sharp 1080P HDTV and use RCN cable. Thanks.
