Possibly Screwed?

My best friend bought a motorcycle out of state (seller in OR, we're in WA). Seller claimed to have 'misplaced' the title and would send it to friend ASAP. Trusting the guy, my friend didn't even get a Bill of Sale. Two months later, tabs have expired, no title and seller AWOL. I suspect he bought a salvage title bike and since he (facepalm) didn't get a Bill of Sale, he might be out several thousand dollars. Does anyone know of any action my friend can take?

Can you help me identify this indie film from the last half of the 90s?

Can you help me identify this indie film from the last half of the 90s? It was shown repeatedly on either IFC or Sundance in that period. Set in LA, it seems now like a precursor to "mumblecore" films with non-actors poorly recorded with only a bit of a plot. The protagonist was male, shorter, dark-haired, and kind of aggressive in the way he would talk to people; I especially remember he would mostly repeat what other people would say, maybe two or three times, rapidly, with this angry tone. Pink Slip in Limbo? Another craigslist deal gone bad...what should I do?

So I was interested in this old Mercedes posted on craigslist and called the guy. He said it had just been crashed into in his driveway by his cousin and his insurance was "totaling" it; however it was really just cosmetic damage and there was a buyback option. The car would have "salvaged" on the title, but since he was getting paid by the insurance company, he would just let me have the car for whatever the buyback cost was. Called a few days later and he said that cost was $1000 less than the price he had originally advertised the car at, so I figured I might as well go look at it. Read on for the whole story... Looking for a book, can't recall the title or author.

I'm looking for a book I read as a pre-teen. It's been years since I read it and I can't recall the name of the writer, or the title of the work. I recall a little of the plot, but not much. As far as I recall, it was about a girl living in a small town in the east coast who falls into a pit, or cave, something like that, and is saved by a man made of earth and stone. [more inside]

Movie title about moving a piano

Movie title filter. I need help remembering a title. In the movie, there's a scene where a group of people moved a grand piano over difficult terrain. Possibly a combination of forest (or jungle) and mountain. It might have been South America or Africa. There might have been missionaries, or a church, in the story, but I'm not sure. There might have been a building made of glass in the jungle, but I may be confusing that with another movie. [more inside]

Job title for high-level software developer

Help me choose my job title. I'm a software engineer and I'm transitioning from a position where I both manage projects and write code, to a post-management position where I'm not directly responsible for any particular projects but provide overall ideas and advice for the architecture, coding practices, features, and anything else about the system. In addition, I'll still be hacking code on whatever parts of the system I find interesting. It's both more and less than a "software architect" since I'll be doing other things as well and I won't actually be responsible for directing the software architecture, but any ideas and advice I have will be listened to. It's kind of a "do whatever I want" dream job. The CTO proposed "principal software engineer" which is good and conveys the general idea and seniority, but I'm hoping you can help me come up with something better. I'm looking for a professional sounding title, rather than something quirky (although if you have a really great idea for a quirky title, go ahead and post it because I'll enjoy it).
