This is kind of vague (else I would remember it I suppose) but it was late 90s/early 2000s (?), with a separated guy with a young daughter (?), there is a fight with his wife at a gas station (?), somehow he meets a Kate-Winslett-ish character (pretty sure it was not Winslett though), and then they move somewhere north-ish and start to renovate/rehab an old house ... Thanks!
I am selling my car without a title transfer. Need quick advice on how to best protect myself. [more inside]
I have a car with a loan I am currently paying that is titled, registered, and insured in Ohio (I am an Ohio resident). I would like to give this car to my grandfather and continue to pay on it, but he is a resident of Michigan. Can I register and insure the car in both states so that he can drive it legally in Michigan?
I've only heard the song twice in my life. The second time I managed to slam a cassette tape into a tape recorder, capturing the 2nd half of the song. That was thirty years ago. Haven't figured it out since. [more inside]
If all goes well, I'll have the pre-purchase inspection on this used car tomorrow, and see if I can close a deal to buy it. Then what? I need help with the order of all the paperwork and steps. Complication: I'm in MA, the owner is in CA, and the car is registered and located with the seller's relative in NH. [more inside]
I am 24 and about to be a car owner. Next month I am moving from Utah to Indiana alone with the car, which is currently owned by mother. We don't know whether I should be given the title, have the car registered in my name and get an independent insurance policy in Utah before I go, or leave everything in my mother's name until I get to Indiana. Many moons ago, my ex and I bought a motorcycle, which was kept in my garage. Before we split, and unbeknownst to me, she took many things from my house, including the title to said motorcycle. [more inside]
I can only remember one scene, where a woman is looking for a kid gone missing (maybe her own or maybe she was babysitting) and ends up finding him with a couple of pedophiles (a man and a woman) who have the missing kid and one or two others. The kid is hidden somewhere in their place and at first she is almost ready to leave, but then something strikes her as odd, and she starts noticing little details, like the nursery floor covered with plastic (to make cleanup easier). She comes back and finds the hidden kid and I think she ends up shooting the pedo couple. The movie is from the last decade or so. I can't remember any of the actors. I think the missing kid story was just one of several intertwining stories in the movie.
Sometime around 1997/1998 I read a strange book and since then I've forgotten almost all the details. About the only thing I can remember is that there were some creatures who 'spoke' multiple concepts at once. [more inside]
I have been offered a position with a company but they have low-balled the offer and downgraded the title (in my opinion). I have drafted an email response (which he encouraged since he is on vacation) and would love for the awesome brain trust to offer some thoughts! [more inside]
I read this sometime in the 80s. It was a chapter book, just shy of YA. And it's title was something like "The 45th Thing I Love About Amelia" or "The 45th Best Thing I Love About Anastasia" (wrong number, wrong name). Oh, and at the end, the mom opens a closet door and there's a dead dog inside or something. [more inside]
There is a mechanic in a city nearby who restores and sells (and maintains) first-generation Honda Insights. Most of the cars his shop produces have a salvage title. He offers exclusive repair and maintenance service to purchasers. I've done a lot of reading and talking to people about this car—a trusted coworker owns one of his restorations—and I'm pretty much convinced that I want what seems to be one of the most over-engineered, fuel-efficient, cool little cars ever made. So what am I missing? [more inside]

Movie title filter. I need help remembering a title. In the movie, there's a scene where a group of people moved a grand piano over difficult terrain. Possibly a combination of forest (or jungle) and mountain. It might have been South America or Africa. There might have been missionaries, or a church, in the story, but I'm not sure. There might have been a building made of glass in the jungle, but I may be confusing that with another movie. [more inside]
This Saturday I'm picking up a used car in Milwaukee and bringing it down to Chicago. I haven't had a car in 2 years, I lost my driver's license and I only have on-street parking. I'll buy insurance on Saturday once I know the VIN. I'll register the car and get a new license Monday morning. What can I do to make sure I'm not screwed on Sunday? [more inside]

Help me find the title of this YA book I've been searching for for 30 years! Two female friends time travel back to old New York. Published in the late '60's or early '70's in hardcover. That's all I recall, except that I loved it. Thanks!

I'm looking for a book I read in year 6 (1995), and I loved, but can't remember much about it. I think it was "world of O", or "secret of O", or something along those lines, but searches on that don't come up with hits on Google or Amazon. I remember that on the cover, the O had a sinuous line through it (like the yin/yang symbol), and there was a bit where the guy was given special gloves and socks that allowed him to cling on to a sheer cliff face (might have been a deep hole instead, not sure). Does anyone recognise this book? Help appreciated :)
