I travel regularly for work -- at least one week out a month during down time and three weeks out during peak time. But, my schedule is usually domestic, and always gets me home after 5 - 6 days, 10 at most... till now. I'm departing Wednesday on a four-week trip: first leg = two-day stops in all four US time zones, second leg = two weeks in one European city, with zero time home. I'm feeling anxious about my preparation.

How I do I turn my audience into loyal fans?
We have several concerts coming up, and though we've got a handle on promoting shows (getting people to come out), our questions are: (1) how do we get them to run home and tell their friends to go to our next show? (2) and how do we learn more about people who come? Looking for personal experiences from concert-goers and tips from musicians and other industries -

So I enjoy sharing my screenshots using
AllYouCanUpload. Basically I save a screenshot to my desktop using apple+shift+3, browse to AllYouCanUpload, upload the image, paste its URL into my chat dialog, and finally delete the source file. I was wondering, is there anyway I could automate this process in OSX?

Can anyone recommend some good stops on Highway I95 between NC and Florida? I'm driving to Florida after Christmas on Highway I95 and thought I'd consult the mefi hive for some suggestions on good stops for food or other things that are worth pulling off the road for periodically. I've driven the route before but I've always wished I knew of better places to eat than the usual chains/fastfood (ugh!) that have saturated the highway offramps. Roadside attractions are welcome, too (but not Pedro's tourist trap emporium at the NC/SC border).

Help me impersonate a graphic designer! I know it’s kind of insane, but as early as this afternoon I may receive the proverbial offer (well, assignment) that I can’t refuse, and I’m wondering if anyone might be able to offer some fake-it-till-you-make-it tips for this sort of project (a short catalogue for a half-dozen or so boutique products). See, the thing is, I'm not a designer, although I have some experience with Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop. I’m most interested in a list of ten or fifteen things that you talented designer folks do over and over again that seem impressive to the uninitiated, but that are simpler than they appear to we of the untrained eyes. Books are also fine, but due to the potential immediacy of this, the shorter the tutorial, the better.

Hotrodding MS Word: I'm finding myself wishing MS Word had a few features that I hope might be available as add-ons somewhere (or failing that, personal tips/tricks). One would be something to tell you how many times you are using individual words in a document (like an enhanced word count), so you can avoid overdoing it. For example: "You used 'cat' 5 times and 'kitty' 3 times."
Another would be some way to tag text so that no matter how much you mix it up down the road (as in taking notes and turning them into written text), you will always be able to tell what source each fact/quote/etc came from. Sort of like footnotes, but better, and ideally transferrable from file to file. Any ideas?

Tomorrow I'm giving a lecture about color -- specifically, I'm talking to designers about how to create color palettes. The talk is more concerned with aesthetics (i.e. what color combinations are striking) than tools (i.e. how to pick colors in Photoshop). But there will be some tools talk. Since there are many designers here, I'd love to know all your color-related tips. As the Xmas season is coming, I am sharing one of my own tips inside...
