We're going to Portland for a week-long vacation (and maybe a moving trial run) in a few days.
We've visited before, but this time we're taking our 2-year-old daughter, and I wanted to ask if there are any great toddler friendly destinations or day trips that we shouldn't miss. Any tips on kid-friendly restaurants and organic grocery shopping in NW Portland are also appreciated.

(Travel filter) Where should we go in Indonesia? Going there for 5 weeks in December, from Australia. We are not interested in kicking it with our compatriots in Kuta or generally, on staying on any very touristy beach or place for an extended period of time.

I'm going on holiday to Ethiopia - specifically, Addis Abeba and some hiking in the Simien Mountains. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations? Whilst I am fairly well travelled, this is the poorest country I will have visited; is there anything I should look out for or anything I should take?

I'm heading off to Paris for four days, and I'm starting to get a bit nervous that I'll forget something important. I've never been to Paris, and I haven't been to Europe for fifteen years. I'll be staying by myself in a hotel in Arondissement 7.
I'm wondering if you can help me out with any last-minute tips or things I'm likely to have forgotten.

I am ready to go. I have been waiting for the fiscal year (Happy New Year!) to declare action on several large ambitions. There is only one question that remains to be asked here: What are some fun things to do in Tulsa, Oklahoma for Labor Day Weekend? (I will have a rental car).

I travel regularly for work -- at least one week out a month during down time and three weeks out during peak time. But, my schedule is usually domestic, and always gets me home after 5 - 6 days, 10 at most... till now. I'm departing Wednesday on a four-week trip: first leg = two-day stops in all four US time zones, second leg = two weeks in one European city, with zero time home. I'm feeling anxious about my preparation.

Can anyone recommend some good stops on Highway I95 between NC and Florida? I'm driving to Florida after Christmas on Highway I95 and thought I'd consult the mefi hive for some suggestions on good stops for food or other things that are worth pulling off the road for periodically. I've driven the route before but I've always wished I knew of better places to eat than the usual chains/fastfood (ugh!) that have saturated the highway offramps. Roadside attractions are welcome, too (but not Pedro's tourist trap emporium at the NC/SC border).

How do you take a vacation? I want to take a few days off, get away from home, relax and not feel any particular pressure to do anything. It seems like every vacation I've ever been on has been work. If I'm not touring or driving, I'm skiing or hiking. I don't want to take time off and just be home, but I don't know how to travel and relax. Any general tips or specific vacation recommendations?
