After ~20 minutes in a hot tub, I get an intensely uncomfortable tingling feeling in my arms and my face and feel very... woozy and unbalanced. What is going on, and is this normal? After I surfaced and enjoyed some cooler air for a bit I felt better. Strangely enough, I'd felt this exact same feeling in one other situation- while having sex with someone. I thought maybe I was just hyperventilating then? lol, young inexperienced people. I kind of felt like I was going to pass out, but I've never passed out before so I don't know if that's actually what was happening. I don't know what exactly my body is doing. And I'd really like to know.

Am a young female with normally lowish blood pressure but in good health.

Recurring nocturnal paresthesia

My SO has a problem where her leg falls asleep completely in the middle of the night once or twice a week. Always the same leg (left) from the hip down. She's 40, healthy and doesn't have any other health problems. We've tried switching sides - and even got a new mattress. Any ideas?

Diagnose me! (Not really, but...)

Medical mystery! Useless, rubbery leg: can it be as simple as sciatica or am I in for some bad news? (I know you are not my doctor, I'm not asking for a diagnosis, I have an appointment with an orthopedist on Wednesday, but this is on my mind now.)

I threw my lower back out last Monday (not atypical since I sprained it lifting something about 7 years ago; it happens now and then but not usually this bad). Went to the urgent care clinic, had X-rays the doctor felt were normal, but he suggested it may be sciatica since I also felt pain in my left buttock. He gave me Tylenol with codeine for that night, wrote me scripts for Oxycontin and cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxer) and suggested I get a referral for an orthopedist, which I did. Again, the appointment's in a couple days!

I took the Tylenol that night and the following morning, then began a schedule of the Oxycontin with the muscle relaxers, carefully following the dosage instructions. Not much pain in the back anymore. Midweek though, I began feeling excruciating pain throughout my entire left leg -- like, really excruciating. I was moaning and crying like I was in labor again. It felt like it was throughout my whole leg, concentrated in the front and outside, in the major muscle groups of my thigh and calf. I mentioned this when I called my PCP for the referral, and to the orthopedist's office when I called for the appointment, but no one seemed particularly concerned. Eventually I stopped experiencing the pain.

I discontinued all medication as of 2:00am Sunday. Throughout the day on Sunday, I had no back pain and no leg pain, just a weird pins-and-needles type sensation throughout the leg. I called the advice line on my insurance card and spoke to an RN, who asked me a zillion questions and then recommended I either see a doctor within 72 hours or just wait for the orthopedist.

Today, the leg is devoid of any feeling really. I mean, I can feel external sensations like if I tap my skin, but in general the leg just sort of feels weirdly useless and jelly-like. My walk is a little stiff as a result -- sort of like when you step gingerly onto ice because you're not sure your leg can bear your weight. It kind of feels like my whole leg is asleep, without the pins-and-needles.

Soooo, with my orthopedist appointment pending, I just wondered if anyone with confirmed sciatica had experienced these symptoms -- excruciating back pain, disappearing and being replaced with excruciating leg pain, followed by pins-and-needles, then just dead jelly leg. Online searches for numbness on one side produces very undesirable results like multiple sclerosis and mini-strokes, so some anecdotal evidence of less scary stuff would be nice.

(Oh, and in case it matters, I'm early-mid 30s, female, healthy except for a little extra padding, not pregnant, no diseases, no meds besides Aleve for almost 48 hours.)

What is this tingling/numbness sensation on my side?

Why does my hip/left side of my lower back have a tingling/numbness to it? A few days ago I developed a sensation in the lower left side of my back and the left side of my hip. It is a small portion of my body, from the middle of my buttocks to the top of my hip bone. Maybe even onto my stomach just a little bit. It started out as an 'itch' and it just never went away. Now it will 'itch' basically all day and night. When I scratch it to try to relieve the situation it's hard to feel and just creates a weird sensation. Not completely numb but pretty close.

I have not fallen or had any kind of hard impact to that side. I tried some research of my own and came to the conclusion that it might be a nervous system issue. One thing I can think of is that I will something stnad up and twist kind of violently to each side to pop my back. That could be the cause right there.

I have looked at questions and answers that are smiliar on AskMeFi but nothing like my situation. Any help as to what might have caused it (to prevent it in the future) and how to go about fixing it is appreciated!

What happened to my heel? It's tingling

I overtrained. A week later, my heel is still tingly and uncomfortable. What's going on? My left heel has felt tingly and kind of weird for about a week now. It's not really painful, just uncomfortable and annoying. If I'm focusing on something else it's generally ignorable, but when walking I'm leading with my toes to avoid putting pressure on it as it's uncomfortable to land on the heel regardless of the shoes I'm wearing.

Me: Mid-20s, moderately high blood pressure, low body weight, been running for about a year, slight pronator.

Timeline: Two weeks ago on Wednesday I went for a 15-mile run. I'd previously run a few half-marathons and I generally run at least 10 miles / week. I felt pretty much fine afterwards.

I was thinking I was pretty hot shit at that point, so the following Monday I went for a 10-mile run. I don't exactly remember when it started, but sometime after that is when the tingling began. Nothing remarkable happened on this run, but I did feel a bit dehydrated at the end (it was much warmer than the previous run).

Friday night I felt like I had had enough of this and went for my usual ~6 K run at a personal-best pace. Nothing changed for better or worse after it.

Speculative diagnoses I've looked at:
* Plantar fasciitis: It's not really painful, just uncomfortable. No change in symptoms in the morning. Walking or running makes it feel slightly worse.
* Sciatica: The sensation is very localized and there's no numbness.

Why does orange pith make my lips tingle?

When I peel an orange or tangerine, I love to eat the pith off of the rind. When I do this, my lips always tingle for a while afterwards. What causes this? I've heard that orange piths have more vitamin C than the fruit itself, so is it the vitamin C causing the tingling?

Extremity tingling

I have had a couple (2 exactly) of episodes of tingling/ pins and needles feeling in my hands and feet (lasting 1-2 hrs) . And 1-7 times a day it feels like someone is sticking a hot needle in my foot (either one, very rarely in my hands), this lasts for around 30 seconds. The pain is very breath taking. I have also experienced some numbness on one occasion. I went to a physician's assistant since my doc was booked ..... She is looking at my thyroid via blood tests.
Her other guess was that I am having back problems even though I have not had any back pain what so ever.
I work in a library (duh) so my new job IS more physical than my old desk job but I have really gotten to it especially the last month or so (the first few weeks I was totally wiped out).
She gave me 6 days worth of Celebrex and some stretches/ excercises (most of these are covered in my current excercise routine)

I have no other symptoms. My energy level is good. I have been excercising and eating pretty well (lean meats, fruits and veggies, good carbs, etc). I am not stressed out, I have a great job and everything is wonderful at home.
The symptoms sarted days before my current excercise routine.

Fearing that her "diagnosis" is a load of crap, I have made an appt with the doc that was too busy. That appt is Sept 1.

I know things it could be and I trust that my doc will be more thorough.

Has anyone had back issues without back pain???
Or change in routine causing extremity issues? (although I started my job beginning of June so I am really over the change)

I am a 32 yo woman by the way.

Help me ditch painful morning ghost-arms.

Please help me change my sleep posture. For the past several weeks, I've awoken sleeping on my stomach with my arms underneath (and crushed by) my body. Usually, because of the way I've been laying on them and cutting off the blood supply/nerve/whatever, my fingers are bent at an odd angle and refuse to move for a couple of minutes after I've woken - accompanied by an extremely painful "pins and needles" feeling.

I'm 20 and live alone. Is there any way I can "retrain" to sleep in a different fashion so I don't wake up like this? Please note: I do not fall asleep in this posture.

What's this tingling in my doo-dad?

Very rarely after orgasm, I'll get a bizarre, indescribable pain in my penis (this is the reason I haven't been able to google it). It's almost like it's tingling, but in an incredibly uncomfortable way. I can feel it in most of the shaft, but no part of the testicles or crotch or anything. It usually comes on fairly slowly about five- ten minutes after orgasm and lasts for about twenty minutes. I'm not too concerned about infection or anything too serious because it happens so rarely and hasn't gotten any worse over the years - sometimes I'll go for months without it happening, but others it'll happen a few times in a single month. It doesn't really seem to matter whether I was masturbating or actually having sex.

For the record, this started way before I lost my virginity, so it's not an STD or anything.

What is causing this tingling in my body?

What is causing this tingling in my body? When I find out or realize something shocking or very surprising, I get this tingling sensation in the back part of my body. The tingling starts from my lower back and travels to the upper part. It usually lasts for about a second or two and feels like a weak electrical shock.

I also get the same sensation in my legs, but only when someone describes a great pain or shows me a really bad wound. It starts from the bottom of my legs and stops at my hips.

My mom says that its common in her side of the family and my dad says it doesn't happen to him. Could it be my nerves? Does this happen to anyone else?

What is this tingling sensation?

Every so often, I feel a tingling in my upper back and neck that sometimes spreads into the base of my skull and can go as far as my scalp. It's definitely a pleasurable sensation; it feels a bit like cool water or a mild electric current being applied to my nerves. I feel it sometimes when I get up and walk around from having been seated for a while, and occasionally when I hear a piece of music that I really enjoy but haven't listened to in some time. The sensation lasts perhaps two or three seconds, starts strong and fades in intensity.

What is it? My best guess is that it's an endorphin rush of some kind, but I'm not sure why I would receive it at random.
