I'm looking for a particular blog post from the past. I have no idea where I saw it, or how I found it, but it involved something along the lines of pretending to be a time traveller to convince a girl to marry you by impersonating her "husband from the future." Any ideas?
Excelfilter: Okay, I'm confident that this can be done in Excel, but I don't know how. Basically, I have a set of samples for which a value (size) was measured at various days. I need some formulas to tell me when the first and last values were measured and what those values were (for each sample). [more inside]
I have just got the time travel bug. After watching this movie, I realized I wanted to read more books and watch more movies on time travel. Please recommend some good ones; the more screwed up/paradoxical/complex, the better, as long as the explanations are reasonably rational.
Posting for brand-new user mdonnahoo, who will answer any queries in the thread: I am writing a program to determine how much time in a flight from Point X to Point Y occurs at night for pilot logging purposes. Is there an elegant way to calculate this? [more inside]
Any insights about car accident related pain? Disclaimer: (I am NOT getting serious medical advice online) It always seems like someone scolds me for that. I was in a car accident 2 weeks ago. We were going 40 and hit someone who pulled out in front of us. I went to the hospital to get checked out and they did xrays and whatnot and diagnosed me with "Severe Chest Trauma". I felt better progressively for the next few days, but then my chest (and lower back) started hurting slightly more each day up till now which is 2 weeks later. [more inside]

Hello. I have lost my remote for my Sylvania SRT 2319 and am trying to program my Time Warner Universal remote to work with it. I have found the code and the remote will power on and off the TV but it will not control any other features. Any time I press the channel key or a number key the CBL (cable) device button blinks, like it's not registering as a TV button. Does that make sense? What can I do?

So I recently moved, and as I always do, got an account with Time Warner (who are pretty much the only option in the part of Austin where I live). I noticed that my IP was resolving as either "earthlink.net" or "mindspring.com" when it should be "austin.rr.com", but didn't think much of it. However, today I found a letter in the mail containing "important information about your EarthLink account." Wot's, uh, the deal? [more inside]

Going bonkers trying to remember the title of a favorite children's book that I read growing up in the late 1960s. The story takes place in NYC and the main characters are 2 children, a boy and a girl. The children stand in the first car of a subway train and as the train moves faster and faster through a Bowery tunnel, the children travel back in time to NY when it was New Amsterdam. They meet Peter Stuyvesant and other characters in Manhattan when it was a Dutch colony. Sound familiar to anyone?
