I'm trying to create my first widget -- a quick corporate directory lookup thingy -- and I'm having some trouble. The UI design, html, and css are all squared away, but the javascript is causing me some trouble.

Where does OS X Tiger actually store the apache directory? I want to change the access file but I can't seem to find it. Spotlight doesn't reveal the file.
A related question: grep doesn't work in OS X's terminal???
I feel silly :(

I'm on a G5 running Tiger, referring to a user account lacking admin privileges, with a backup strategy of dragging my User folder to an external hard drive once a week. Since upgrading to Tiger, though, I've been informed that "You may need to enter the name and password for an administrator on this computer to change the item named 'Library'." I've duplicated this on another computer.
What's going on here? First, I'm only copying the Library, not changing it, and second, why do I need an administrator password? This is my User library, I thought that it and everything else within my User folder was by definition owned by me, and that even if I did want to modify something in the Library I wouldn't need a admin password.

Since upgrading to OSX Tiger on my Powerbook G4, Adobe Illustrator CS has been acting a little flaky. Among assorted document hangs/crashes (requiring force-quits), Illustrator keeps creating .tmp files on my desktop such as "Acr1058251.tmp". I've done a bit of googling and, as suggested, have changed my prefs to not create PDF's upon saving, but this doesn't seem to help. Have any designers out there found a solid answer to why these files are being created, and a proper fix?

I upgraded my wife's powerbook (15" titanium/867Mhz, from 2003) to tiger last week and now it seems when unplugged it doesn't recognize the battery in the status monitor. I've searched google but can't find any fix.

I have Tiger, but can't install it on my G4 because I don't have a DVD drive. I borrowed a friend's external drive, but I can't get the G4 to boot off of the installer disc. Is there anything I can do to resolve this? If there is no solution, I am considering replacing the CD-RW drive in my G4 with a SuperDrive. Who manufactures this drive, and what is the basic process involved in installing it. Please help me get Tiger on my Mac!

I'm trying to import a Thunderbird inbox into Mail so I can use Spotlight to index the messages. Everything works fine, except Mail ends up importing over 4000 messages, most of them spam, when all I see in the Thunderbird inbox is 900 messages. Why are the ghosts of spams past showing up like this? The trash can and junk mail folders are empty as can be.

I have encountered a website that records my IP address on my messages that I post for all to see every time I post. This makes me paranoid because I feel that even though most of the people on the board are cool; someone with malicious intent may try to use that information against me. How can I post to this board anonymously? And if I can't... is there a way to "mask" my IP address of fake another one in it's place? BTW, I am using Mac OS X TIGER (if that's any help).

I'm looking to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) when it's released next week, but have one fear that's holding me back from doing it as soon as my delivery arrives: does anyone know if Tiger and the current releases of MySQL 4.0 play well together?

I'm trying to remember a tv movie that was featured on ABC's Weekend Special with O.G. Readmore. The problem is I only vaguely remember certain parts of the movie. The few things I DO remember is that there were a couple kids stranded on an island (possibly brother and sister) and that the brother had to protect his sister from a tiger that entered their camp. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
