I have treatment-resistant bipolar depression and anxiety. I've been working with the same therapist for 8 years and have made progress but feel like I need a new perspective. Minor special snowflake: I'm pretty smart, and I feel like I need a therapist I can't out-think. (Yes, I know how obnoxious that sounds.) Can anyone recommend someone in the area who they think is really pretty brilliant?
Can you recommend an excellent physical therapist for scoliosis in Brooklyn or Manhattan? [more inside]
I need to see a therapist but I have NO idea how to find one. I live in Brooklyn and would go anywhere in Queens/Brooklyn/Manhattan (but mid/down town and northeast Brooklyn would be best.) I would prefer to see a woman, maybe someone who specializes in emotionally abusive relationships. I have Oxford insurance but I dont know if that even covers therapy. I could pay up to $100 a session out of pocket, I guess. I need to see someone as soon as possible. [more inside]

I'm starting to accept that I desperately need to see a therapist, but I am unemployed (recently moved here to NYC) and have no health insurance. Are there any clinics or hospitals that offer low cost therapy services?
I was using an online "therapist finder" (Probably Psychology Today but I can't be certain) about 6 weeks ago to find myself a therapist. I had come across one in particular that I thought I saved a link to, but now can't find. I know it was a woman, and she mentioned dogs in her description/bio - both that she was a dog owner and lover, but also that her dog could sometimes be present for therapy, and/or you could bring your dog. I know that's not unheard of, but her description really resonated with me in terms of what I need right now in a therapist and I am hoping someone might recognize my description. Thank you!
I want to go back to therapy, but the last two people I tried were just terrible, and I am sick of blowing my outrageous copays on people who seem incapable of relating to me. How do I find someone who will actually help me? [more inside]
How do you handle mental health in NYC- insurance, out of pocket, other options? [more inside]
Looking for an NYC therapist specializing in treating problematic drinking. It is for someone who is a very private person so 12-step/AA/etc. is not an option. The issue is infrequent binge drinking leading to behavior stressing an otherwise happy and healthy relationship. Anywhere in Brooklyn or Manhattan works. Looking specifically for a psychotherapist, not a psychiatrist. Insurance not an issue. Throwaway email: email@example.com
